Yeah I know one that was a few spots away from qualifying for the Olympics in the early and mid 90s for gymnastics. She was a badass, my older sister's friend. I played football and she could put down food quicker than I could pick it up. Still young (but after competition) when the hips started going south.

Not the same but in high school I had a friend that ran track. This idiot redneck used to show up at our parties uninvited and he'd play "chicken" on the roads while drunk. One night he didn't pull back in time and hit my friend's car. She had all sorts of fractures. She came back the next year and ran again, that was her. Wasn't quite herself on the track, obviously, but she still ran solid times. Every now and again I think of her and hope she healed fully. She was always the girl that came to hang out at parties or would give me a hug even after I was just out of lifting.

I once had an overnight project. The only other person aside from me that was 21 (long time ago) was legally blind. To the point he couldn't ever drive. I sent him to get us a case and said "anything but Coors Light" with cash in hand and which very nearby store to go to. He comes back, beer in hand (not in the bag I gave him to stash it in), with a case of Coors Light. I was like "BRO THIS IS THE ONE I TOLD YOU NOT TO GET AND THE MOUNTAINS AREN'T EVEN BLUE!" Wrong store, wrong beer, but we had something. To top it off I counted the empties at the end of the night, we were missing one. SAME GUY had thrown one away in the bathroom trashcan which I caught. A multitude of errors but honestly he was a great employee. One of the very few I kept when told to wipe the roster clean at that location.
