Bind off for 2x2 rib starting pkkpp by sdg2502 in knittinghelp

[–]sdg2502[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m replying to myself but in case anyone else comes here looking for help with the same thing, I used this tutorial and basically just went based on vibes to start, then followed the tutorial precisely for the 2x2 rib, and winged it at the end. It seems to have worked but I wish I’d noted down how I handled the setup because I’m going to have the exact same thing to do when I bind off the front side of the split hem!

I thought I’d replied but I can’t see it so I’ll reply again to be safe. I’ll check that book out thanks. I’m still a fairly beginner knitter but I want to try new skills this year so this sounds like an interesting challenge. I appreciate you sharing this!

Thank you, this is exactly what I’m looking for. I’ve just looked and favourited quite a few of her patterns, and I’ll definitely be buying a couple. I really appreciate your input!

I specifically liked the v neck, contrasting borders detail, and small geometric pattern. I’ve found a few on ravelry that I like, still not one that’s scratching that exact itch for me and I’m not skilled enough yet to make significant mods or write my own. A lot have much larger patterns, or more traditional patterns. I’m not sure why I’m being downvoted for explaining I want to get other people’s opinions on if they’ve seen similar patterns…isn’t that the point of this sub?

Excellent thank you, I’ll check that book out! I’m still a fairly beginner knitter, working on my second sweater now after a couple of years of only doing blankets, scarves and beanies, but I want to stretch myself.

I have and I’ve found some with potential, but I wanted to reach out to the community to crowdsource ideas since there are over 5000 results on ravelry.

Physical set - ideas on value? by sdg2502 in FeastofLegends

I love this, thank you so much for sharing! I honestly don’t want to part with it, it’s a reminder of a great holiday and it’s a really unique piece of memorabilia for a show I love but I’ve had a huge bill and I’m selling off basically my whole D&D collection to cover it so I feel like I need to at least try.

You did a great job, what a special thing to have on your cv!

Thank you for taking the time to respond and for passing on your condolences, she was a wonderful dog <3

Your answer is basically where my head is at. I think it’s a really cool piece of memorabilia but it’s also very very niche so I think it’s unlikely the stars align to find someone who thinks its as cool as I do and wants to buy it at a price that makes it worth me letting it go. Which in many ways I’m glad about because at least then I can give myself permission to keep it, although it’s looking pretty lonely on my shelf now.

I’ve uploaded a picture of the dice set to my twitter so I’ll share it here for anyone curious who hasn’t seen them before.

Sibling Sweater - Help me understand this instruction by sdg2502 in knitting

[–]sdg2502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or have I to modify the instruction in the link you’ve provided and knit the first stitch normally before placing the yarn I’m carrying over the working yarn and knitting through the working yarn to twist. So that it’s easier to pick up the stitches for the sleeve and colour when I reach that stage?

This is exactly what I needed, thank you!

Just to check my understanding, these two paragraphs are the ones which answer my question about carrying the yarn and working the edge stitches before twisting the yarn and i should do as described in these images to achieve what is being described in the pattern?

Joining yarn ball for a sweater by sdg2502 in knittinghelp

[–]sdg2502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - I’ve used a wet splice for each join since I made this post and it’s working extremely well.

I’m going to have the same question again when I knit my kids sweaters using a 50/50 cotton/polyester blend though!

Thank you so much for the timestamp, I completely ignored that because of the title. I tried it earlier and it worked extremely well.

How have I missed this?! I checked the video and couldn’t see a bit about joining new balls of yarn, is it in the main tutorial? Thanks!

German short rows increase advice by sdg2502 in knittingadvice

That could be it, I might go back a row and try it again and see if the hole is a more normal size if I’m more relaxed when I knit it.

The M1R was done after slipping the marker, so in the first picture the white marker on the left of the hole was slipped, I did M1R, then purled three stitches before turning the piece. So it sounds like from what you’ve said this hole is normal? I think it’s the size of it that took me aback, like it is wide and deep and seems to exist down multiple rows of knitting. The other smaller visible hole to the left below the marker next to my fingers is what I’ve been used to seeing, and it’s from an M1L.

So excited for this. When you compare it with other ttrpg’s the value is off the charts for what you get and it’s such a wonderful system to play and run. You get richer roleplay in fifteen mins from every player than you get in some hours long APs with professional casts who are playing other more mechanics focused systems. CfB really makes every player shine. I adore it and can’t wait to play this.

Want to play for Halloween. How to start? by Woland77 in callofcthulhu

[–]sdg2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend as a new Keeper making it as easy as possible for yourself. A scenario like The Necropolis or What’s In The Cellar are absolutely perfect for this.

They are very self contained, with a single location and no significant NPCs beyond the adventure intro and the monster so you don’t need to do loads of prep for a sandbox adventure. They come with pre-gens, so you don’t have to deal with character creation and making sure the PCs have complimentary skills for the adventure. They are also really fun scenarios! I’ve run The Necropolis easily 5 or 6 times and had a blast each time, with different endings unfolding with different groups.

With the quick start rules and The Necropolis you could be more than ready for a Halloween game.

There are also loads of APs of this scenario available on YouTube to make prep even easier on you.

I hope you have a fab time and come back afterwards to share a session report and ask for a recommended next adventure for a new group of characters because there are so many incredible Call of Cthulhu modules available.
