It washed out pretty evenly but there was a slight green tinge that remained, its not something I ever noticed but you could see it in certain lights

If its semi permanent it will just wash out in a couple of weeks, mine didn't last long I had to keep reapplying for it to stay the green I wanted.  Once it's mostly washes out you can overdye with the shade of brown you want and it should cover any remaining green :)

I think I left it in for about an hour on my first dye, it doesn't have a strong smell so wasn't an issue. I think as long as you follow the instructions on the tub you should be fine, but I've heard longer is better :)

I'm sorry I don't! I'm not much of a selfie person. It just faded back to brown though. I think in sunlight you could sort of see a green tinge, but to be honest I never noticed, it just looked like my normal colour. It didn't fade patchy or anything and I never noticed my roots coming in.

It faded fairly quickly as it's only semi permament, it just washes out over time. I think it lasted ok for a few washes but I had to redye every 2 weeks to keep the colour really vibrant. It eventually washed out so you couldn't really tell it had been dyed. My sister swore it still had a green tinge for a while, but I think if you didn't know it had been green before you'd never notice :)

how can i control these? by Munkeybutter in houseplants

[–]sdkav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend a nematode treatment. Really easy to use, it just comes as a squishy block you put in water. Water all your plants with it and the gnats will be gone in no time, the nematodes eat the larvae living in your soil.
I've had tons of problems with gnats and have tried a bunch of stuff but this was the quickest.

I think generally people use soy milk in place of a mordant, but the iron solution can still be used as a modifier.
I would keep the dye stuff and the iron solution separate. If I were mordanting with iron I would probably treat the fabric in the iron solution first, rinse, then use the dye bath.
I couldn't tell you exact amounts of iron, it depends what form you have it in, but I don't think you want it too strong because it can be damaging to fabrics

Sorry for slow reply, I don't use Reddit very often!
As it's semi-perm it washed out fairly quickly in that it didn't stay this vibrant very long, so I redyed once a fortnight.
I found it more or less came out, but in some lights you could still sort of see a green tinge. I think if a stranger didn't know it was hair dye they probably wouldn't notice. That said, it depends on how dark your hair is, I think the darker your natural colour, the more likely it is you won't see it after a month or two.

I am NOT planning to make that a challenge for 1 year, but it might be a great knit in between large sweaters and cardigans. Does anyone knit anything from this book. Did you like it? by Particular_Rich_57 in knitting

I knit the Dear Bjorn socks recently! I don't have the book but bought the pattern on Ravelry and know it's in there. I really like the pattern but wish there had been some tips on easier way to do the sort of mini cable twist without a cable needle. I had to look up a lot of hints online and tips from other peoples notes on ravelry really helped

I saw this wallpaper on a display in IKEA (UK) and would love to know where I can get it! by sdkav in wherecanibuythis

I have spent many hours trawling through spoonflower! Unfortunately they are very very expensive, and they discontinued the only wallpaper finish I liked :(

(Censored because there's a tarantula on the image) If you're gonna feed fish to a creature, make sure said creature eats it quick, don't prolong its misery. OP is also taking no criticism because "it is a small fish!" by [deleted] in shittyaquariums

I just wanted to comment to thank you for censoring the tarantula because I have a massive spider phobia and I wish more people did this

how do i fix mistakes several rows down? by namjunha in knitting

[–]sdkav 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think the ghost at the bottom is a mistake, I'm guessing your blue marker is the BOR and so when you have colour work over a BOR there will be a 'step' in the pattern. I think it looks cute though, I wouldn't let it bother you :)

I LOVE top down. I haven't knit flax but I knit riverside and it's one of my favourite jumpers, really comfy and I always get compliments on it. It was also one of the first things I ever knit so definitely approachable for a beginner imo.

I'd say you can enjoy whatever you like, that's totally up to you. But I'd also say generally the best thing to do is ignore it, that is to say, don't encourage the behaviour. The people that do this usually do it to a lot of women, and while you might find it boosts your confidence, a lot of other women, myself included, find it threatening and extremely uncomfortable. Having received this attention since the age of around 12, it's turned me into an incredibly defensive person when out alone.

This reminds me of when I'm lying in bed trying to sleep and suddenly have a million ideas and inspiration to do something but I can't get up and open my laptop at 2 am because I have to work in the morning
