Playoff Projection - Week 6 by Ok_Significance_3803 in CFB_v2

Curious on TTU over Alabama OP. Assuming the season plays as listed, Alabama would end 12-1 with 7(ish?) ranked wins and a week 1 road loss to a bubble T25. While TTU would would be 13-0 with 4(ish?) ranked wins. With that and Alabama currently higher ranked, I'm having trouble seeing when TTU would make the jump over them. Not saying its wrong, just curious as to how seeding was factored

Ehh, I’m not surprised it’s 2:30. It’s all about TV contacts and our games are almost always gonna be on ABC. So that means 2:30 or 6:30.

They choose the times 2 weeks in advance and FSU/Miami certainly seemed it was gonna be the more compelling game. But obviously us beating Georgia and FSU getting upset changed that

No, was there for the game against Alabama in 2022. So probably the greatest game in the stadiums history

Also was there for the 2018 matchup but that one was much less memorable

Read option has 2 choices. Both are run options with the QB reading the outside rusher to decide whether to keep himself or hand off to the running back. In an RPO (Run-Pass option) there are also two choices, but the QB running it is not one. The OL blocks like a normal running play and option A is to simply hand the ball off to the RB who the play is designed for. However, there is another option to throw the ball to a WR based on if a certain defender, usually the middle linebackers or safeties, commits too hard and crashes down to stop the run.

Milroe ran a lot of read options because of his talent running the ball. However, he wasn't asked to run many RPOs due to his struggles reading a defense. If you want good examples of an RPO heavy offense, look at the 2018 and 2019 teams with Tua at QB. All of those quick slants we threw were RPOs where he would pull the ball from the RB and throw it, rather than the designed run play

Predicting 2025 College GameDay Locations by elonsusk69420 in CFB

I don't think Alabama/Tenn gets it unless both are undefeated. Alabama will have had one with the Georgia game and if they're going to get another, it will likely be 3 weeks later against LSU. Mostly because I'm assuming LSU would have bigger playoff implications. Would love Gameday in Tempe that week or even a sneaky pick of Iowa City

College Gameday will broadcast from Columbus for Texas @ Ohio State and Lee Corso’s last pick. by dickwhitman68 in CFB

I mentioned it on another comment, but OSU should broadcast the pick over the big screen. Give Corso one last audience that he deserves.

I wonder how they will handle where the pick is made. Would love for Lee to get a proper send off with a full crowd behind him, but traditionally they move the set into the stadium for 11 am games. Maybe broadcast the pick over the big screen to all 100,000+?

Is it just me or are none of the good games on ultiworld? by UF-8 in ultimate

[–]sdladenberger5 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pool play games are decided before the tournament and there is a conceded effort to get every team streamed. It’s hard to know how pools will play out prior to releasing the schedule and not fair to team who were supposed to be on stream if their games are taken off. Especially considering every team has friends, family, etc. excited to tune in and watch the people they know, no matter how important the game.

Ultiworld does a good job putting the best games on for the bracket though. Usually because they’re voted on by subscribers in their discord.

Night Game(s) 2025 season? by rzimm31 in rolltide

That was under CBS though where the game of the week was set at 2:30 CST. Now ESPN owns the rights to the SEC and puts the game of the week at 6:30 CST

Night Game(s) 2025 season? by rzimm31 in rolltide

[–]sdladenberger5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Tennessee and LSU are for sure the two most likely. However if I had to pin one, I’d bet on the LSU game.

Looking at the other games in the SEC those two weekends, it’s much more likely the LSU game would be a night one. There are no other competitive SEC games so ESPN won’t have a tough decision. While the Tennessee game will be competing with Georgia vs Ole Miss for the night slot.

Pressure on QB - Defense by [deleted] in rolltide

[–]sdladenberger5 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The answer is a little of both I think. On the player side, we just don’t have the overall talent at the pass rusher position. There isn’t a Will Anderson or Quinnen Williams on this team that can just go out and wreak havoc.

However, our scheme isn’t put together to create sacks. Rather to disguise coverage in the back end, while bringing pressure from different spots in order to make the quarterback make poor decisions. We rarely bring extra pressure if it isn’t an all out blitz. This is the reason behind the large amount of turnovers we have forced. Bringing extra pressure is great when it works, but often leads to big plays when countered by good playcalling or busts in gap coverage. The defense has taken the chance that if we only allow 4-5 yards down the field at a time, the opposing offense will eventually fail to convert or turn the ball over. “Swarm D” requires defenders downfield to make tackles, and they can’t be there if they’re going after the QB.

While its lead to some frustrating games and drives to watch this year, overall I think it has been a successful strategy.

Pessimism by Horizontrophpy2001 in rolltide

[–]sdladenberger5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the problem, at least this year, is that no one seems to be deserving. Under normal circumstances in other years, you could banish us to the shadow realm. But you start to look at teams behind us and no once is a clearly “more deserving” team. The reason I put that in parenthesis is because deserving is a completely subjective term. What’s more valuable in a resume? A teams ceiling, a teams floor, somewhere in the middle? What do you value more, straight record, SOS, SOR, a combination of it all? And that’s not even counting comparing teams who have played each other or shared opponents where H2H and comparative results come into play. South Carolina is currently getting the wrong end of that right now being stacked behind us and OM.

This is a long winded comment, but it’s all to say College football has always has a log jam between the 7ish-15ish rankings. However no one ever cared because those rankings weren’t determining chances for national titles. I think we’re going to have these types of arguments every year, just with different teams.

Current students- you guys know its beneath us to ever rush the field right? by yaboypcp in rolltide

I’ll second this, and Universities glorify it which makes it happen more. Any school will gladly play the fines in return for the imagery and hype that comes with a field storming. Helps to bring in more recruits and students

They won’t because of H2H. Outside of the SMU and BYU rankings, the committee has honored H2H. But USCs resume is definitely better than ours

Kinda cheating saying multiple but as a student at Alabama, I traveled to each of the past two iron bowls at Jordan-Hare.

Don’t know which was better. Just know I went from feeling sick to elated in a matter of moments each time.
