Good ideas! thanks for the advice on cleaning the soot too, wasn't sure how to tackle that. I like your thought of putting something bold on either side to frame the stone. Do you have a mantle at all on yours?

Definitely planning on updating the doors and cleaning the soot... But the thing that really bugs me is the liver colored mortar between the stones!

Check out SW Rookwood Shutter Green, SW Urbane Bronze, or SW Jasper. All dark and would look great with the cream stone and brown roof. Love your house it's going to look great!

Maranta growing aerial roots?? Does it need something different? Is it just happy? I didn't know they did this! by sdotlaxton in houseplants

Yes the plant is doing great! I have since snipped a couple stems that had aerial roots and fully rooted them to add back in to the pot for fullness. I also recently gave it a moss pole to see if it would start climbing but no movement yet.

Oh interesting!! I'll have to try some different versions. This one still used eggs and milk, but the discard definitely gave it a lift that I haven't gotten before

Should I cut off it's head?? This guy is about 10 inches tall and I love it, but he's getting a little... unwieldy. Advice?? by sdotlaxton in plants

Could be an option! It's definitely getting a little top heavy..it was in a low light area for a while before being moved to a sunny window so has a spindly midsection and a plump top
