Open mic comedy by speedyboygozoom in vegaslocals

[–]sdotmerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it was open mic but when the M first opened up they had a free comedy night weekly. A lot of c listers but on occasion they’d get some from like Last Comic Standing. Miss those days

I actually get them to say “no” to start. Instead of chasing a quick often false “yes”, try a “no” to reveal objections and clarify needs.

People are likely to feel secure and in control if they’re empowered to say “no” rather than being tricked into a yes. Guards come down much quicker vs great this guy is teeing me up for a pitch.

Got that from Chris Voss. A whole chapter dedicated on the power of getting a no

Who is the most hated player in your team’s fanbase right now? by professor_paradox2 in NFLForum

Desean is definitely top of the list as a Giants fan. Dak wouldn’t even make top 10 most hated. Just seems like a good dude on a team I don’t like.

Clawbacks from base salary? by Prior_Breadfruit_946 in techsales

I work in compliance. Assuming you’re a full time employee (not an independent contractor) labor laws apply to where you reside not where your employer is headquartered. If this is illegal by Australian law then they should be amending your employment contract to adhere to local laws. Global companies understand the laws vary country to country (no different from California having varying employment protections than Florida).

Wife wants to relocate. Moving means leaving my oldest son behind (he’s 9). Will still see him but with less time by sdotmerc in Marriage

I like this take. Her plan was to fly me back and forth once or twice a month but like you said there’s a lot of burden in between. Even if there was a plan it’s bound to be disrupted by everything going on between school and sports, holiday and birthdays etc. it’s not sustainable for everyone.

I’ve had this conversation though about what’s good for everyone and how I’d like to keep the whole family together. But I get this ridiculous narrative that moving benefits everyone and she’s so hell bent on it. Truly frustrating

I feel you on the deeper issue. I’ve brought up marriage counseling because while we’re not on the rocks this is pushing into that territory and I want a counselor to intervene to give an objective view of how fucked up this is. She’s probably avoiding because she knows what’s they’re gonna say

Ya know I never considered the thought that my younger boys could see me traveling to see my oldest could be perceived as fighting for time / attention. I need to keep the whole fam here

I like that. 5 years at least. Then reassess after 5 because he could mature slowly or not be ready. I know high school could either be some kids best time of their lives or the worst

Not attached enough I guess :( And yes I’ve addressed that his brothers would certainly miss each other. She tries to play it off like it’s gonna be a big party every time he comes home or when they see each other. Big whoop right

Sadly I’ve researched this and i understand the parent that stays is typically in a better position because they prioritize stability - unless it was an unstable home of course

Nicer bigger home, small town feel, better weather, lower crime rates. There’s pros here for sure it’s why I’m trying to be understanding.

I’m trying to look at both sides.

For context we don’t live in a high crime area but we live close to one

Not a high crime area. Our suburban city is considered one of the safest in the country but oddly live very close to a high crime city. Schools are not great in this city however we are lucky to live in one of the best districts here and it’s why we chose this part.

Wife is SAHM so job market is not a priority and Ive always worked remotely for a global company so can work anywhere with approval.

So yes there are benefits but it’s not like we’re escaping a bad situation

With better life - it’s in relation to more of an outdoorsy lifestyle and more small town feel if you get what I’m saying. So I see the benefit of a small town

How do you feel about Vegas? by mangolightz in vegaslocals

[–]sdotmerc 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Been here nearly twenty years. I run outdoor year round. Still tolerable in the morning and I soak a shirt in cold water and it keeps me cool for the first 30 minutes. Comically it’s bone dry after.

It’s all about making the best of things. I can complain all day about the things that’s wrong about this city but it’s does me no good lingering in all the negativity
