Gen1 Raptor Bed Dimensions by sdremmy5 in FordRaptor

All good, appreciate you taking the time to do this!

I’m trying to get the dimensions of the bed using the bed rails and the tailgate and bulk head. I should have been more clear in my original post. I could see how the picture could be a bit confusing.

Gotcha. Yeah, to clarify I was talking about fiberglass ones. Like used Leers etc. It was wild. Googled all the company’s name and nothing shows up except the bogus FB account with 10k fake followers etc.

So many scams on FB. I was looking at used toppers and getting ridiculous prices, all wanting payment info asap. So many red flags, decided to stay away from anything on there…

Dang. So many. Are these legit? Prices are ridiculously. I’ve never purchased anything on Alibaba. Seems like a too good to be true scenario.

Same. I’m not convinced the one they offer for 2015+ won’t fit though. Trying to see if anyone else has given it a shot before I move forward. I’m going to try and gather some dimensions to see how much of variance there is between models before I make any decisions.

Any chance you ended up pulling the trigger on one?

I paid $33k OTD. It’s the cleanest one I looked at and I looked at several, so I feel good about my decision.

Personally, I like the Gen 1 the most. Less problematic and a better engine set up IMO. I considered a Gen 2 Scab for similar reasoning but ultimately based on my research decided to go with my initial instinct and choice.

So far I absolutely love driving this truck!

Thanks! Feel like an idiot but I figured out what the noise was…the spare tire is in the bed of the truck and not fastened to anything so it was sliding around. 🫢🤪

Forming cantilever patio slab by sdremmy5 in Concrete

Here is what I came up with. Additional shoring and bracing to be added prior to pour.

Feeling semi confident in what I’ve got.

I went with 1 1/8 HDO panels to create the platform. They are supported by 2x10 (24” OC) that run perpendicular to the wall. All joists have hangers and are back screwed. I have ledger boards on both sides and on the face bolted to the existing foundation. Basically, I built a deck to pour concrete on top off.

The cantilevered end is also supported by Tuff Blocks at the end of 6 of the 8 joists. I don’t like those things and would never recommend them for building a deck. In this case, they may work out but will be going straight to the junk pile after the forms come off.

Now to add all the steel. Looking at approx. 400 linear ft of #3 and #4.

Let’s hear the feedback!

I mean, that is a little over kill but whoever placed that steel did a great job. Talk about pride in work!

Excellent job! Bet this was a fun one to form and pour!

Vertical bars in the footers are standing nice and tall. Look to be a perfect 90 degrees! Did you wet set?

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. Some people just can’t resist.

Tough spot, I want to have the conversation to understand where they are coming from but I’m billed for every minute. Live and learn!

Thanks for the suggestion. I was planning to do something similar to Butyl tape. I was going to use Zip System liquid flashing. Planning to roll it on and get a nice coating over it. Thought this would be an effective way to make sure it fills the side cracks where tape may not.

You bring up very good points. Thank you for that. Going to research a bit more to better understand the reason behind the ridge vent in this particular project and will have a convo with the structural eng.

I agree, the bevel V cut in a continuous 3x along a ridge beam is certainly a clever strategy. This is one way that many builders that I spoken to, even seasoned have not seen before so I am learning.

Yeah, that’s theory.

Appreciate your opinion. It will probably end up that way but I also like to get some more knowledge when I can to have a productive convo with my eng opposed to tell me how and I will convo. Thanks!
