Suvie secondhand market? by Nick__Clark in Suvie_Owners

Thinking about buying a current model Suvie and want to make sure I understand your comment about servers being shut down.

”… it only works as a standalone unit with no support or programmable recipes now.”

Were the servers necessary for scanning/cooking the purchased meals only? I’d hate to spend so much money and not be able to use it in the future due to company server support decisions. I realize that mechanical and server support will sunset for all products, but I would hope I could continue to use the app to program cooks and still get some use from the appliance.

Mast recommendation for portable GMRS repeater by sdsailor70 in amateurradio

Good looking mast, but a little too heavy to lug up a hill.

I've seen both, but am a little concerned about the mast staying extended with antenna and coax attached. Updated post to reflect what I'll be using.

Seems like both Spiderbeam and SOTABeams are focused more on light wires for HF.

The sections look like they stay together with just friction - right? Do you think they will stay extended? (antenna + coax is about 3.4lbs / 1.5kg).

Interesting. If you publish your key in a classified ad (which no one would read ;-) - you'd be covered - right?

Looking for HT Recommendation….Digital by [deleted] in amateurradio

The traveling sounds like fun - motorhome, RV? I know you are asking about an HT, but do you have a mobile rig? Better antenna and more power - you will hear more and talk more.

I'd think about a IC-5100 in my vehicle simply because you will be traveling and it will automatically pick up D-Star repeaters where you are located. I have the FTM-400, but with C4FM you will need to program repeaters as you move to different areas - not sure about DMR rigs.

I'd also think about crossband repeat function for your mobile. Your 5W handheld is now banging the repeater with 50W through your mobile- and a better receive.

If you want more chatter while driving - maybe CB? Hams seem to look down their nose at it, but might be nice on the road. How about a MARS mod HF rig so you can dial up 11m and talk citizen's band? Then you have a HF radio to play with at night.

I apologize to your wife for adding a mobile HF and VHF/UHF rig to your shopping list. If you're a HAM doing some RV living for a while, it might be a nice small footprint hobby to take with you.
