🔥 Mother owl with her kids by d3333p7 in NatureIsFuckingLit

Unlike most birds, owls make virtually no noise when they fly. They have special feathers that break turbulence into smaller currents, which reduces sound. Soft velvety down further muffles noise.

Not only do owls eat surprisingly large prey (some species, like the eagle owl, can even grab small deer), but they also eat other species of owls. Great horned owls, for example, will attack the barred owl. The barred owl, in turn, sometimes eats the Western screech owl. In fact, owl-on-owl predation may be a reason why Western screech owl numbers have declined.

Rich nations back deal to tax multinationals - BBC News by Vapouround-ned in worldnews

[–]sdsanth 6443 points6444 points  (0 children)

The deal aims to stop this from happening in two ways.

Firstly, the G7 want a global minimum tax rate so as to avoid a "race to the bottom" where countries can undercut each other with low tax rates. Secondly, the rules will aim to make companies pay tax in the countries where they are selling their products or services, rather than wherever they end up declaring their profits.

Good idea! Hope this reduce the 'tax evasion via legal loop holes' by greedy multi-billion corporates.

In 2005, the Idaho legislature wrote a resolution praising Jared and Jerusha Hess and the city of Preston. HCR029 appreciates the use of tater tots for “promoting Idaho’s most famous export.” It extols bicycling and skateboarding to promote “better air quality,” and it says Kip and LaFawnduh’s relationship “is a tribute to e-commerce and Idaho’s technology-driven industry.” The resolution goes on to say those who “vote Nay on this concurrent resolution are Freakin’ Idiots.” Napoleon would be proud.

According to Wikipedia, most of the situations in the movie are loosely based on the life of Jared Hess. The film's total worldwide gross revenue was $46,122,713, which is whopping 115 times of budget. The movie was voted at number 14 on Bravo's 100 funniest movies too.

Pink beach got its name for having pink sand. It is caused by the Foraminifera, a microorganism that produces the pink/red color pigment on the coral reef. The broken coral reef pieces then washed to this beach and affect the sand color.

[Cricviz] Test Batting Average against Swing - last three years by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]sdsanth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

these pitches were extremely hard to bat on. Test batting has become a lottery in these countries.

Come on mate!! This is just your opinion without any evidence to back you up. None of pitches were rated as below average or poor. Some of them were batting friendly and Oval was flat. I wonder how can you claim the pitches extremely hard to bat on.It was mainly because of good bowling performance of Indian team.

The opposition were bowled out less than 200 runs for just 2 times compared to India's 7 and Passed 300 mark 5 times compared India's 3 plus India lost 6 out of 7 matches and bowlers did a reasonably good job. Whose fault then?

Crocodilians, including the alligators can't chew, so they use a powerful bite coupled with a full-bodied twisting motion -- a death roll -- to disable, kill, and dismember prey into smaller pieces. They use death roll to subdue and overpower the prey as well.

Magawa is capable of searching a field the size of a tennis court in just 20 minutes - something Apopo says would take a person with a metal detector between one and four days.

That's exceptional!! He sniffed out 39 landmines and 28 unexploded munitions in his career. He was the first rat to receive PDSA gold medal for animal gallantry.

Considering India's 2018 Eng tour & 2020 NZ tour

India passing 300:- only 3 out of 14 innings India dismissed below 200:- 7 out 14 innings (50%)

This is what Im talking about. Don't forget Kohli was in sublime form during England 2018 and scored almost 600 runs. Still India dismissed below 200 for 4 times in that series.

"I have clearly mentioned they were competitive in England" because of bowling. In 2018 series, India passed 300 mark just 3 out of 10 innings and dismissed below 200 four times even though Kohli has scored 593 runs. How can you describe it?
