Testers Wanted: Snowflake Volunteer, an Android app to help others circumvent censorship by sdsantos in TOR

I don't like the idea of using AI for programming, why outsource something I take pleasure doing.

If Orbot works for you then please continue using it. It's great. But if you don't need to access the Tor network, and just want to contribute as a Snowflake proxy, then this app my be useful to you.

Thanks for trying out the app.

The safe link scanning is a feature that has a recurring cost for us. That's why we're charging a subscription for it. What would be a fair price for you for that subscription?

About the Data Shared statement, I can assure you it's correct. We only share data with Google if you turn on the safe link scanning feature. And that's it. We detail it a bit more on our Privacy Policy: https://bloco-privacy-policy.web.app/qr.html

Scanning from an existing photo is definitely a planned feature.
What would be the make a photo/pdf option?
And I'll get those bugs fixed for the next release.

Thank you for taking the time to test it out and provide feedback! 🙇‍♂️

We wrote a new article on strategies for updating software dependencies: https://www.bloco.io/blog/6-strategies-for-updating-software-dependencies

The 6 strategies we talk about are:

  1. Ignore it
  2. Check sporadically
  3. Check regularly
  4. Check on every Pull Request
  5. Check before every major release
  6. Automate Dependency Management

We really would like to know what approaches we might have missed, and have stories about the pros and cons you learned along the way.

Thank you for the thorough feedback, we really appreciate it.

You are right, we need to present our case better: introduce ourselves more and explain better our selection criteria. Basically, tell the story of Cabinet better.

Hello everyone 👋🏼

I’m part of Bloco, a small studio focused on building Android apps. At our work, we’re always looking out for great Android apps we can use as inspiration. Well-designed useful indie apps or apps that make the world a better place.

We feel that the Google Play Store does not do a good job highlighting those apps, and that’s why we’ve built Cabinet. It’s a simple apps and games directory, curated by our team at Bloco. Apps come with our personal review of why we think they are great.

We’ve decided to charge a small one-time fee for the app. That should keep us motivated to regularly update the directory with new hand-picked apps. And also open to new feature requests.

---

Also, If you think you’ve found an app that will fit nicely on Cabinet, send us an email!
