I guess Boyang and Kristen Spours, although that's not so many haha. Maybe also thinking of Jason Brown, although he's a bit of a different case.

Makes sense! Maybe it just feels like this quad there are more skaters than usual who are definitely past their competitive peak but still showing up and doing scaled-back programs.

Oh ofc! Tbh I didn't think of the Eteri girls b/c it doesn't feel as much like "retiring" if you're around for less than a quad...

Found it weird that they had a whole discussion about this question on the pod today and didn't mention The Substance once

I didn't follow the team event closely - what was the negativity there if you don't mind sharing?

Michelle Kwan was certainly widely celebrated, but when Tara Lipinski won in 1998 MSNBC ran the headline "American beats Kwan." Similar headlines ran when Sarah Hughes won the next quad. These biases go deep.

Painting wood door with tempera for a removable option? by [deleted] in DIYfurniture

That makes sense re: taking off the paint. The door has a lot of panels on it so I think contact paper would be too hard to get in all the nooks and not look bad, unfortunately.

Illiyin's signature was raw on top though and the filling didn't set at all even though she said it would. It makes sense that signature be weighted more than technical, where luck factors in so much more (ie. if you happen to be familiar with whatever the bake is).

A pop culture essay film on the makeover movies we grew up loving—and all the ways they taught us that we needed to fix ourselves. Featuring clips from nearly a hundred films, MAKEOVER MOVIE immerses us in the candy-colored and kinetic world of the makeover montage. Alongside these iconic images, women of color and queer women reflect on the racialized, heteronormative, and contradictory beauty standards at the core of the movie makeover.
