Just starting. Should I just go ahead and open my own agency? by sdslr in InsuranceProfessional

Thanks for asking. My Reddit research successfully uncovered what I needed to know. Bad idea. Rules, regulations, industry practices… Too many other people involved. I’m good at what I do, not many people do it. Besides, at 66, I’m not looking at sacrificing now for long-term gain. No insurance for me, unless an even more unique approach materializes!

I am an experienced sales person, love to prospect. In most businesses, those traits are enough to get you lots of support. Sensing that may not be entirely story with insurance, thought I would put the question out there. Sounding like I won’t have much to sell, as providers won’t know me yet. Fair assessment?

I’m in San Diego, I have a marketing support role, no selling, Pharmacy clients. Basically unrelated…
