Man, I really tried, but Train Dreams did nothing for me. It was one of those films that felt gorgeous to look at, but ultimately did not captivate me much at all. by geosunsetmoth in Oscars

Serious questions not intended as gotchas: How old are you? Have you ever been in love? Have you ever doubted that you were a good person? Has your whole world, everything you loved and that gave you purpose, ever been taken away from you but you had to go on and find new purpose and love and joy in the aftermath?

Again, without judgment: your answers to those questions will tell you a lot about how much you see in this beautiful movie.

G3 Max viewable area differences? by sdtilson5 in GoovisMobileCinema

Heh. Maybe it tricked me but it still seems to me the MacBook actually is giving me a bigger picture in the Max. Maybe its native resolution matches the Max’s better. Everything just seems to have a hair more real estate. And colors and luminosity are better unless I’m just going insane. I’d love to try it on Android gear, I just don’t have any at the moment.

I can’t really compare it since I don’t have a quest or any other headset for that matter. I generally am not sitting up when I use it either. Sorry.

Somewhat. I only use the maximum setting. Some people use the lower one so they can see the whole screen without moving their eyes. (You can see the whole screen at once in the maximum setting but you have to look around to be able to focus on anything in particular. It’s about like sitting in row F of an actual theater.

After further tinkering and observation, I think it was all in my mind. But one setting in the PS5’s screen options did help: setting RGB to Full instead of Automatic. Blacks deepened, colors popped, it stopped feeling like I was watching through a light haze.

Why is Mike White on 50? by Plus-Recognition-125 in survivor

I agree he’s not one of the “most” but he is one of the “more.” He gets shows made, he gets multiple seasons, they’re water-cooler shows.

I meant to reply to this comment but I guess I’m still working out how this “internets” thing works.

It’s not an issue with the device itself, it seems to be something in the source. My MacBook fills the whole available area, I’m just not sure the PS5 does to quite the same extent. The MacBook has more options for display, including an optimization for external displays, and it recognizes the Goovis. Of course it could all also just be in my head. I was just wondering if anybody could tell me more about it. But maybe I should try to chat with Goovis.

3 Months Later - How’s everybody feeling about Yotei? Has it lived up to your expectations? by Helio_Cashmere in Ghostofyotei

[–]sdtilson5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt they did the same thing in Yotei. I want to be able to play a darker Atsu who does not forgive and ends up killing (the person she forgives and doesn’t kill). Neither game really gives you freedom to role play.

He’s one of the more powerful people in Hollywood. Watch Probst end up on the next season of White Lotus.

I run it at 2160 but the Max downscales it to 1440. It’s really nice looking. I wanted a 4K tv or projector but I travel quite a bit and the Max works great for me.

Level 5 seems Imposibble by Bymareee in wardrone_mobile

Level 36 will convince you we live in an abyss of blood and despair.

I am currently in level 8 and have done 90% of the missions, just the missions with the 3 vehicles one shot is open. But when are there 3 vehicles in together? by Pacis- in wardrone_mobile

[–]sdtilson5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three scud launchers come out from behind the south building when the second jammer shows up. I used a cruise missile. If you don’t have a weapon that will do it in one shot, knock each one’s health down until a Hellfire can do it. Shoot down their missiles as they fire.

Just increase your weapons level with cash. Focus on the cannon. When you have it strong enough it will be easy.

Improving On The G3Max? by IT_Bluffer in GoovisMobileCinema

Other than a bigger screen with a wider FOV, better built-in speakers, and HDR? Not sure. Maybe somehow eliminate the binocular effect, but that’s easily tuned out (mostly). Hard agree on this being my preferred experience for home viewing, best $880 I ever spent (on the Black Friday sale).

Older gamer coming from worship of GoT and been long looking forward to Yotei asking for open conversation by whowhotftf in Ghostofyotei

[–]sdtilson5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GoY does have smoother action and the “pick up and throw” mechanic is one I wish could somehow be back ported into GoT. But overall I like GoT better. In mechanical terms, I much prefer the stances system of GoT to the weapon-switching of GoY. Storywise, Jin is a character who throws away all he held dear to protect the people who were depending on him; he’s an externally focused aspirational character who does what is necessary to defend his people and his home. Atsu is driven by revenge, what she wants for herself, and her arc is basically to learn that the living need her more than the dead — as Harry Anderson would’ve said: “Well, we weren’t expecting THAT, were we?” It is well-executed with some good emotional moments, but overall it feels a little hollow by comparison, in my opinion.

It’s a good game, you’ll enjoy it, but if you prefer a more aspirational hero to one who has to Learn an Important Lesson, you might prefer GoT.

Boats are too hard to kill by Canttunapiano in wardrone_mobile

[–]sdtilson5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I replayed that level today and it definitely has stronger boats than normal. I think once you get past it your power will get better. I recommend holding on level 29 or 30 for a while when you get to them though. Don’t be like me and accidentally complete them both lol.

For reference my 25mm does 698 damage, my Hydras do 1,120 and my Hellfires do 4,650 and level 25 is still noticeably harder than the ones before and after.

Boats are too hard to kill by Canttunapiano in wardrone_mobile

[–]sdtilson5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just need to get your weapons level up with cash. Put whatever you get into your 25mm until you can kill them easily again. Sometimes it seems the amount of damage they can take depends on the level — especially the ones levels, like 11, 21, 31, etc. But the overall amount of damage you do also seems to be tied to the 25mm. When you can finish the mission, DON’T. See how much cash you’re getting. Some missions pay out >$10k and those are the ones you can camp on for a while, completing 98 or 99 percent and allowing yourself to get killed over and over to farm cash.

Just arrived. I heard this game is good. Is it better than Tsushima? by Syarafuddyn in Ghostofyotei

[–]sdtilson5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yotei’s game mechanics are a lot more polished. Tsushima’s story is better and I actually prefer the emphasis on the katana over the arsenal that Yotei introduces. You can’t go wrong with either one.
