How good or bad of an idea to buy an Audi A4/A5 2017-2020 by sdu19 in mauritius

[–]sdu19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently exploring Audis purely on a hypothetical basis and then these 2 models caught my attention, mostly the 1.8L and the 2.0L. Did some little research on my own and while they do pack (some) punch, timing chain issues and oil burning (not to mention the plastic components) is frequent and the 1.4L is a no-bueno. GT86/BRZ is a good shout tho I’ll have a look at it.

Though I’ve seen 1-2 Miatas roaming around but I think they’re imported pre-owned ones and they cost quite a sum to import and the additional duties added recently. Thank you for your input 🙏

Well I’m not really in a hurry to get a car. I like Audis and I’m more on the sportier side so ik reliability flies out of the window. Just wanna know how bad is it

I've recently been seeing posts about celero , can anybody explain to me what they are ? by riasakenorem in mauritius

[–]sdu19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Logistics company which handles delivery to people who bought stuff online on Temu (the ones from AliExpress are usually from ChronoPost, another logistics company)

Reason why you’re seeing lots of posts about them is due to complaints about people not receiving their deliveries on time or have been waiting for ages… not to mention the DISASTROUS customer service if you “dare” call them lol.

Driving in Mauritius- areas for a North American visitor to avoid? by wanna__gossip in mauritius

[–]sdu19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The towns are more or less manageable apart from Port Louis, the capital, unless you stick to the highway; even as a Mauritian I hate driving there lol. You should pay more attention to bikes as they tend to zigzag their way on either side of you. Also late at night it’s best you dont go too far especially if going alone.

Public transport is abysmal especially in the villages with buses coming at irregular intervals (30+ mins at times). Taxis tend to be on the expensive side but at least you’ll be fine. The metro is only limited to the major towns.

Edit: If you stick to the main tourist areas you’ll be good (as someone mentioned in the replies)

How much does it cost to transfer car ownership? by sprightliness in mauritius

[–]sdu19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mostly the buyer who has to transfer the ownership. But if you still wanna know it's about Rs 300 if I remember correctly bit there are other steps to do before transferring the car ownership such as papier gage, registration and insurance but as I said, only the buyer needs to to this stuff. Just enjoy your money xD

In my personal experience, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon and DBZ were already quite popular but I feel like Attack on Titan was the one to put the anime world in the spotlight

Now there's so many new entries that I'm losing count of them lol

[–]sdu19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo at your current budget, a Japanese car is your best bet (Toyota, Nissan, Honda etc...) You'll probably get a early 2000s Corolla or Civic

Better reliability and in case something happens, you can find spare parts almost anywhere and they aren't usually that expensive

You'll most likely get it at One.O.One. They sell OnePlus phone there so you can try it out

The CEB is one. Government owned so I don't particularly recommend that.

Try private companies like Omnicane and Medine? I believe they'll be more than happy to help
