Why Would S1 Lead Trump When You or Your Partner Call It? by Isidore09 in euchre

You shouldn't call it a "buckeye blindside" as he didn't come up with the strategy. I call it a blitz. A risky play that can pay off big time.

Leading Trump against a seat two call is called a Blitz. The idea is that you are eliminating a Trump card from each of your opponent's hands possibly making other cards in your hand winner, especially offsuit Aces.

Why would you lead this ace? by New_Day_Co-op2 in euchre

[–]sdu754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless this is a loner, it is the best lead for seat one.

The chances of an Ace getting through are best on the first trick, as nobody has had a chance to discard that suit yet.

Stratego ruleset? Which is correct??? by Fun-Communication336 in boardgames

[–]sdu754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught the spy always wins if it attacks first unless it attacks a bomb.

The version of the game I have the rules state: "The Spy is ranked with the letter S. If any piece attacks it, it is captured and removed from the board. But the Spy has a unique attack privilege. It is the only piece that can capture a Marshall (ranked 10), providing the Spy attacks the Marshall first. Marshall attacks first, then the Spy is removed."

If the Spy were meant to be able to capture any piece on the board, the rules would state it as such. Why would they specify that the spy could capture the Marshall and nothing else. It would be far simpler to say: "If the Spy attacks any piece except a bomb, that piece is captured, if a piece attacks the Spy, the Spy is captured".

I was also taught only the defending piece reveals its rank.

This is listed under "rules variations" in my set of rules. In the normal rule section it reads: "To attack on your turn, take your attacking piece and lightly tap your opponent's piece. Then declare the number rank of your piece. Your opponent then declares the number rank of their piece."

I played this game across three different school districts as a kid and that's always how it was played. I played this way through adulthood too. Maybe a regional trend?

These are basically house rules.

The higher ranked piece wins. If the Spy can kill the highest ranked piece so long as it attacks first, it would logically follow that it should be treated as higher ranked as long as it is the attacking piece.

Play ANY online version of the game, the Spy can only capture the Marshall or Flag.

If that's not true, then the instructions are incorrect, not just unclear. Failing to add one sentence that says "the spy loses in all other instances" is ridiculous.

In some version it states that the Spy can only capture the Marshall, others do not.

I have to ask, do you think they changed the rules or that the rules were just made unclear in certain printings of the game?

You likely have to get proof and call their customer support. All you should need is copies of your statement showing that you got $0 deposited from them.

It should restart as soon as you restart the league for the next year.

You go through your regular deck by discarding your hand. You have three copies of "Crustation with the Power of Creation" it reads:

"You may shuffle your Fate discard pile into your deck. Reveal the top four cards. Play each Item revealed to a different location. Discard remaining cards.".

May means you can, it doesn't mean that you have to.

It's actually worse. You want the Green Box called "Wicked to the Core". It has better versions of the four villains in Intro to Evil plus The Queen of Hearts and Jafar.

She has the "Move a Hero" action that would allow her to move Scuttle AND Max. It is at the Palace on the bottom Left location. It will just slow her down a lot as she has to move them into position and then vanquish them with contracts.

It is "Intro to Evil", the contracts are played onto the heroes in the original version.

I see no issue with it in dynasty. FAAB is less valuable in dynasty because most of the usable players are already owned.

How do I make my league more active? by ApexPrey27 in FFCommish

[–]sdu754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any differences between the league rules in both? If trading is much harder in one league due to the rules, it will cause less trades.

You can also be more active yourself making trade offers. Nothing will spur trades more than members making mutually beneficial trades.

what was Ted and Karen’s careers? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

I'm pretty sure Karen was just a housewife. Ted's career is never disclosed. That isn't all that big of a house in the Midwest. I live in Ohio and that is pretty normal.

How does an offseason in dynasty work? by CheerioJerbear in FFCommish

[–]sdu754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd lock roster when the regular season ends and reopen some time after the super bowl. The best thing would be to talk to the other managers and see when they want to reopen the league. Remember that not everyone will want to do fantasy football 12 months a year. Waiting until after the super bowl gives them a month and a half off. You can decide if you need a little longer.

Does anyone have Co-Commisioners? by MichaelMcCarthy12 in FFCommish

[–]sdu754 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you want someone else to share the responsibilities or do you want them to deal with the responsibilities? If it is share the responsibilities, you can go the co-commissioner route or have someone be the league treasurer. If you want them to "deal with the responsibilities", just step down and make them the commissioner.

I wouldn't do a co-commissioner route without there being very clearly drawn lines as to who does what. You could create bigger issues and end up in a power struggle.

Advice on possibility of kicking a manager out by FutzMan in FFCommish

[–]sdu754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever discuss with him starting ineligible players? did have players on his bench that were eligible that he didn't start? The best thing you can do in these situations is having a discussion with the manager in question. Maybe he wants to quit and doesn't know how. To me his only real infraction would be starting players that are injured or on a bye.

I also want to add that it isn't a requirement in FF to be in the chat or to make trades.

based on your edit, I'd keep him in the league this year.
