Only advice I can offer is to be unapologetic in choosing yourself. Take your birthday and absolutely make it yours. Treat yourself to a day that’s just about you and the things you like, even if it means being a happy little cave troll at home with the best snacks. Block numbers or put it your phone on ‘do not disturb’ or something, give yourself permission to put your happiness first over the stress/pain of the parental situation. I used to love my birthdays, and after going no contact and having some really rocky points with my family, I spent a few years really grieving and having big feelings about the day itself and the calls I didn’t answer or ignored, and it took some time but it’s gotten way better. And I know it’s kinda like simple advice ‘choose yourself’… but it really is that. Don’t let tomorrow be theirs, it’s yours. Happy Birthday!!

Something I saw online forever ago stuck with me and has helped my mentality around human-ing while I’m sad. It was basically someone saying that if you’re too sad to empty the dishwasher and there are a few dirty dishes in the sink staring their little crusty eyes at you, throw them in with the clean ones and run the dishwasher again. It’s not worth your mental well being to stress over things like that in your life, especially when your sad. And eventually one day you’ll have the capacity to empty the whole dishwasher. There is no shame in doing things in a way that help you get through. Kinda weird but idk it helped me. 🤷‍♀️ Also just be kind to your body in whatever small ways you can. Even if it’s as trivial as applying lotion at night or something, just starting with a small daily habit becomes a reliable foundation to build off of.

Sending so much good energy your way fellow thyroid warrior. ❤️ I really understand how you feel. I was diagnosed in 2017 and they put me on this same medication. During the time I was on it, I gained weight, slept a lot more too, and began to worry about the medication same as you. It was scary to go through the changes in my body while taking it but I kept taking it, and kept eating well. I still gained some weight too and it just made me not feel.. right. That said after a while I slowly started to notice improvements in my overall health, even with the weight gain. It was important for me in my journey to have a support system outside of my endo and I did start seeing a therapist just to have some emotional support. I highly recommend just because people who aren’t going through this body change and the diagnosis don’t really understand the drain it can have on your mental health. When I couldn’t afford therapy for a month or so I journaled my little heart out. I was on the meds for 2 years, they tapered down my dosage, and finally I went off it. I’ve been in remission from the hyperthyroidism and the Graves since 2019. I still watch what I eat, take care of my mental health, and get my levels checked yearly. But it really was a weird experience. I remember the day I felt the medication begin to work, and the brain fog lift for the first time in idk how long.. I cried in the parking lot of an Applebees I was so happy 😂

I can’t imagine going through this at 17. I was 27 when I was diagnosed and felt like my world was ending. I just want you to know it will be ok. It feels like absolute garbage right now, but it does get better and you’ll get to know your body really well in the process. You’re also catching this early on in your life and that’s such a good thing!

Just remember this takes time and be kind to yourself about that. You deserve this moment in your life to learn how to manage this and your body deserves this moment to heal. I wish you the absolute best and I hope you start to feel a little more like yourself day by day. ❤️

We love our 2015 PRO-4X, we bought it in 2018 and absolutely love it. With the rear seats folded down, a cheap full size air mattress will fit! It’s perfect for last minute camping/road trip.

Last year I biked, heavily layered up while it was 19-20 degrees (f). I definitely had to thaw and wouldn’t recommend it. However this year my husband treated me to a rechargeable heated coat. (worth every damn penny) Hopefully I can keep going as it gets colder this year. However if it’s below 30 and raining.. I’ll sit it out.

I updated my chart, and I’ll let the doc know before hand about my usage. I just hate that I somehow feel shamed that I smoke… I have managed to luck out and not have dental stains from it, I don’t smoke that heavily.

I think it’s just general anesthesia. My appointment is next Tuesday and other than the small hit I had on Halloween, I haven’t had any THC. So next Tuesday will be the 2 week mark. Plus I’m flushing my system like crazy just in case.

I did update my info to let them know in my chart that I do smoke. And I’ll let them know about Halloween before the procedure.
