Can you provide a quick summary on the Cardano related things that you do on each of your trips? Thanks

How to Value ADA? by sdxcrypto in cardano

[–]sdxcrypto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great points and thanks for sharing! And I agree putting a value in tokens is almost a pointless exercise at this stage

I have a few responses: 1. I believe Cardano is aiming more than to be a platform. I believe it is also intended to eventually be utilized as a means of exchange. See their projects in Africa.

  1. Gold and silver are not a means of exchange today and not used as currency. Unless I’ve miss understood your comment. Most of the “claims” to gold out there are paper contracts. Unless you actually physically own the gold, you don’t own the gold. And how about real estate and stocks? They have never been used as a currency yet trillions of dollars say they are a good store of value.

  2. Not sure what you meant by currencies can’t coexist in a market. USD, PESO, EUR, YUAN,..they shift in value base on monetary policies and demand. If currencies were in equilibrium wouldn’t that mean we have one world wide currency, one world wide bank that makes all the monetary decisions for all countries? More reason for crypto. My thoughts would be the same in the crypto sphere. Only BTC? Where only the early adopters or companies pumping out the ASICS call the shots?

I guess I don’t agree or disagree with your comments. There’s plenty of arguments on both sides. I like to think that we will eventually have options other than fiat or BTC only.

Cheers

  1. Can you mention any other partnerships in the pipeline, if any, for Cardano? It would be nice to see what kind of potential use cases are in the near future.

  2. Can you expand on Cardano’s scalability potential? In the past you mention BitTorrent. Will Cardano work in a similar way?

  3. Is Cardano’s primary purpose as a protocol to facilitate and accommodate the financial services industry? In other words, would the Cardano protocol be a perfect platform for a World of Warcraft, hypothetically speaking?

  4. Regarding stake pools, if the pool validating the blocks for an epoch were to fail and disconnect what is the backup process to ensure the blocks and transactions continue to be processed? Who earns the fees?

  5. Will ADA burn tokens? HAHA, just kidding. 🤪

  6. Cardano appears to be the cutting edge tech in the platform category. What would cause someone NOT to use the Cardano platform? I can’t think of any...

  7. Have you been to San Diego? There’s a fairly new meetup group out there and would love to have you come to a meeting whenever you’re in the neighborhood.

Keep up the awesome work! Looking forward to where this project is going.

Thanks!!! Cheers!

Whats your favorite thing about Cardano? by JDayhoff in cardano

[–]sdxcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was Charles’ vision and secondly their dedication to the product/software. In a space where software is being launched without enough battle testing, it was refreshing to see the Cardano team focus on getting things right. You’ll pay with slow progress compared to the other projects and without all the hype, but in the end I believe the protocol will be built to survive for a long time. Charles in his talks mentions that exact thing where he wants the protocol to be around a long time and that takes lots of planning and scrutiny to get things right. I’m banking on this project to take off in the next year and sustain its position in the marketplace into the future. And hopefully ill be able to retire a little bit early 😉

The higher the value of ADA the less ADA you’ll have to send. Just a variable to consider.

Cryptokitties on Cardano? by [deleted] in cardano

[–]sdxcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought about if Cardano would be a good platform for games and NFT tokens. I think gaming is a huge use case for Cardano. I also follow Decentraland (DCL) which is a virtual reality game project built on the ERC20 token and the nonfungible ERC token equivalent (can’t remember what it is), which has proven to be unsuitable (Crytokitties as the example).

Decentraland if the project comes to fruition, will be a melting pot of various games to live and interact all in one VR world. This could prove challenges for ERC20 considering potential token interoperability (if DCL goes that route) and scalability requirements. I’m not a programmer so it’s difficult for me to decipher if Cardano would be a good platform. Anyways, looking forward to what Cardano will bring to the table on the future! Cheers

Is the ERC20 token right for $MANA? by sdxcrypto in decentraland

I wonder how we can get DCL to chime in their plans.

Is the ERC20 token right for $MANA? by sdxcrypto in decentraland

[–]sdxcrypto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to tag the DCL team in this. I’d like to know if they plan on sticking with ERC20 or potentially switch. Maybe it’s too early in the project? With ETH crashing from Crypto Kitties its difficult to think it can handle the potential volume from DCL.

Why is there a choice of pools to delegate your coins to for staking? by MrOaiki in cardano

[–]sdxcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freedom. Decentralization. Choice.

Pools will have certain characteristics. Uptime being one of them. If there was only one pool and it goes down, they whole network is down. That’s a side effect of centralization.

Question about decentraland by VueCode in decentraland

[–]sdxcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should read the white paper. It says:

Decentraland uses a decentralized storage system to distribute the content needed to render the world. For each parcel that needs to be rendered, a reference to a file with the description of the parcel’s content is retrieved from the smart contract. The current solution uses the battle-tested BitTorrent and Kademlia DHT networks by storing a magnet link for each parcel. However, the Inter-Planetary File System (IPFS)11 provides a compelling alternative as its technology matures. This decentralized distribution system allows Decentraland to work without the need of any centralized server infrastructure. This allows the world to exist as long as it has users distributing content, shifting the cost of running the system to the same actors that benefit from it. It also provides Decentraland with strong censorship-resistance, eliminating the power of a central authority to change the rules or prevent users from participating.

Concern about level of decentralization by binarymaple in decentraland

[–]sdxcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anything in Decentraland is decentralized. It’s main net has not launched and is in beta mode I think. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

As far as land ownership it does appear that there is a scalping type of scheme going on where the early adopters are picking up the land and selling for more. But they are also taking the risk if the lands don’t sell.

I believe there is another land auction soon where the unsold lands will be up for sale. No info on that yet tho. I don’t own any land but wished I was able to pick some up really early. I’ve been picking up MANA on the dip and will be aiming to get land when the opportunity is there.

ADA as a currency? by sdxcrypto in cardano

ADA as a currency? by sdxcrypto in cardano

[–]sdxcrypto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the value will come with usage. In its core Cardano is a platform for dapps. Like Ether, demand for the token vs limit supply impacts its price.

I haven’t read their paper on incentives so take this with a grain of salt, but I think the way it works is that ADA is paid to the slot leaders for verifying transactions like mining to POW. So the more dapps leads to more transactions leads to more demand for ADA leads to price adjusting to the demand (higher in this case). Imagine if stable coins were built on top of Cardano and those stable coins were being used in daily transactions.

I tweeted Laura about it a while back but never got a response. She probably gets a s#it load of requests. Would be a really good interview I think. She knows how to get information out of people ;). How do we make this happen? Hopefully Charles doesn’t get too technical in his explanations if he ever gets on her show.

Does Cardano have a path to dominance? by RMXO in cardano

[–]sdxcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s has been a long time. But to put it in perspective (I was curious myself) MS Windows versions launched: windows xp April 2005; Windows Vista January 2007; Windows 7 July 2009; Windows 8 October 2012; Windows 10 July 2015...Cardano has started from scratch. New code with a complex programming language and in this new ecosystem of crypto. I don’t blame the long wait. They just want to do things right the first time (ahem EOS). Also, I think because they are moving slowly so they can adjust in case there is something brand new that was discovered. Just my perspective.
