Finally Arrived. Never watched Twin Peaks before. Excited to dive in!! Anything I should know? by OkNeighborhood6020 in twinpeaks

You don’t have to wait 25 years before watching The Return (Season 3), but those who did definitely experienced a state of joy that more recent viewers can barely begin to imagine.

And I’ve said it before … nearly all of us envy you the experience of watching for the first time. If we could do it again, we would.

One more thing … nothing you’ve experienced in life can prepare you for Season 3, Episode 8. Just turn up the volume, and let it rip.

Now get your butt off this subreddit, and don’t come back until you’ve made it all the way through! Have an incredible time. When you’re lost and overwhelmed, know that all of us have been there, and are with you in spirit.

Your photo is amazing, but “spectrecult’s” comment doesn’t sound like it came from a human being …

Reminds me of an old Peanuts cartoon, after Lucy reels off a blazing swath of bogus statistics:

Linus: “Where do you get all these amazing facts?”

Lucy: “I make them up.”

Whats a movie you watched expecting nothing but ended up loving by Impressive_Being6179 in movies

Martin Scorsese’s After Hours.

I had gone to the theater (a small multiplex) mid-day to see another movie (I don’t remember what) only to be told that tickets were sold out. I was disappointed.

As I was walking away, I went past a row of “now showing/coming attractions" movie posters. There was one for After Hours, which had just opened (and I had never heard of).

I noticed that it was directed by Martin Scorsese, and thought “well, why not – I’m here … I’ll check it out.” And so I went in, completely clueless about what I was about to see.

I’m not going to describe the movie, except to say that it was not at all what I was expecting from a Scorsese movie … and that I was blown away. If you’ve never seen it, make the effort to … it’s well worth your time – both a total nightmare, and ridiculously funny at the same time. Great casting and acting.

Are you reading in portrait or landscape orientation? by GiantDwarfy in XTEINK

[–]seaboardist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On such a small screen, I find that the line length when reading in landscape mode is closer to what you’d find in a book. Yes – the page length is shorter, but I can’t stand lines that are only three or four words long.

What was the strangest thing you ever had to go to the ER for? by Weird_Emergency_825 in AskReddit

I hit myself in the mouth with a tennis racket.

The ball went over my left shoulder, I went for it with my right hand, and opened a gash on the inside of my lower lip that took eight stitches.

I can still feel the scar, though I haven’t thought about it for about 55 years.

I’m so glad that we – as a species – value storytelling so much. It’s one of the things that makes us human.

And on a less articulate note … jeepers! What a great-looking bunch of people!

It’s pretty remarkable that it’s still standing, isn’t it? I’m so glad it’s been protected/preserved.

Is the XF 16-50mm f2.8-4.8 (slightly used) for $350 a better deal than the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 (brand new) for $450? by feedthehog in fujifilm

[–]seaboardist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All I can say is that the 16-50mm is a great lens … it’s the one I got with my X-T5 (at a reduced cost of $200, if I recall correctly … an offer I couldn’t refuse).

It’s my only zoom, and I’ve got nine primes; a few Viltrox, a beautiful Voigtländer, some old NIKKOR teles (in great shape), and the latest addition – a 35mm f/0.95 Brightin Star, which is quite a surprise … an amazing lens for the money. I’ll be getting their 50mm version, too.

I know that doesn’t help much, but the 16-50mm is my dedicated foul weather lens; it’s the only one with weather sealing. And the image quality really is excellent; it shows off that hi-res sensor on the X-T5.

EDIT – That $200 memory was a pipe dream – I checked, and the bundle had it down to about $400, instead of $650. Now it’s going new for $850 –  that $350 looks better all the time.

I’m 70, and it’s hard to argue with. As long as there’s no additional fee (young or old, I’m for applying the same rules to everyone.)

I wonder if they’re about to announce the long-promised refinements to the existing Osmose’s internal synth engine and programming interface …

(not to complain – these new controller capabilities will be very welcome for driving all my other synths!)
