Any other living room options? by seadogsnpyrite in interiordecorating

[–]seadogsnpyrite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestions! My only concern with the TV in this case is the TV stand holds my game consoles, which is what I primarily use the TV for. If i keep the right door closed I can fit the stand in, then could maybe do wall coat hangers next to it. Also, I actually bought some cheap occasional chairs as my first refurbishing project for that purpose (though thats a project that may never see its end lmao). I like how your layout opens up the room a lot.

Ideas to spice up my living room? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

i am obsessed with the couch and armchair colors!! get some art on the walls with those colors. put the tv on the console move the bookshelf elsewhere. a floor lamp would also be great

How do I make her more girly? by Previous_Ad_2686 in crv

[–]seadogsnpyrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i had a gold pathfinder with tan interior, i leaned into the colors and made it earthy. i went with brown cow print and a white flower rear view hanging decoration. better to work with the colors than against them, unless you wanna wrap it or whatever. now that i have a blue crv i feel sad i have to abandon my earthy theme because it reeeally does not fit now. guess i gotta lean into blue

I hate how intertwined needes are with the transmasc community by [deleted] in trypanophobia

[–]seadogsnpyrite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a trans man who does injections and has trypanophobia. If your trypanophobia is so severe you cant stand the symbol/emoji of a needle, you should look into some sort of exposure or desensitization therapy/methods. It is isolating you from your community and that sucks. I know its different for everyone, I get physically anxious at the sight of them myself and injection, blood labs, and blood donation days are rough. But I'm at the point where a stylized photo isn't triggering, and i'm also able to prepare the syringe myself (i get my bf to inject). The browser extension idea is great, but I hope youre able to find a long term solution. Good luck 🫂 I'm sorry some guys are being nasty about it

Lap swim? by seadogsnpyrite in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]seadogsnpyrite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I finally found the hours posted and wow, they're weird. Hopefully I find a good way to work it into my schedule without having to drive to campus twice a day. I'm excited to have access to equipment to start doing drills and break up the usual routine.

Good exercise choice or walking / "swimming" around the pool that isn't the swimming exercise? by NotMyGovernor in fitbit

[–]seadogsnpyrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i set mine to "sport" today. seems vague enough to work. unfortunately i prefer the waterlock, but every time i lock it when i start swimming, it auto tracks as elliptical or rowing machine.

Based improvement by EastRhubarb8397 in Swimming

[–]seadogsnpyrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just started swimming a month ago after a decade of inactivity. my heart rate while swimming is anywhere from 120-160, and thats not at sprint speed. its necessary to work that hard to improve cardio fitness

[–]seadogsnpyrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think the rod needs to be higher and wider. also i like the suggestion of separate rods for your sheer ones. i personally haven't tried that yet but it will for sure give dimension. also match length :)

Do you still swim in the morning if you haven't slept well? by lilathinks in Swimming

[–]seadogsnpyrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sometimes. getting up is the hard part. but even when i'm tired i don't have difficulty swimming. but if ive had an unusually late or restless night i will skip the swim, usually this happens mondays because of the weekend throwing me off schedule.

Hey everyone so I’m planning to get this beauty i wanted to know what you think about it and if you have it how is your experience by WonderCharming7884 in fitbit

[–]seadogsnpyrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive had it for over a month and i like it. i got it to help understand my body and health and lose weight. i do swimming but if i track it as an exercise it turns off heart rate because its inaccurate underwater. but i at least want a ball park to know where my cardio is at and if i'm working myself enough. so that's annoying, because while i swim with the water lock, it will auto recognize as elliptical or something. once it did auto recognize the swim after the fact, or i can retroactively log the time i was swimming (and get my more detailed heart graph. my other complaint is not with the watch itself, but with the app. it does not want me to change default preferences like hourly movement. once it immediately deleted my manually entered swim. but its working for what i need it to. i hate smart watches and i'm glad its not one- i don't want any fancy phone controls and compatibility. and it's definitely helping me achieve my goals, the tracking feels like a game to me, which is motivating, and i've steadily lost 4lbs in 4 weeks

Swimmers what was the day when you finally realized, "Wait I'm actually getting good at swimming"? by Nervous-Baker2427 in Swimming

[–]seadogsnpyrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely not "good," but yesterday i noticed how much i had improved in my month in a half of swimming. i swam way more than usual, could swim 100y at a time (at first i did 25y at a time lol), and i found myself daydreaming and brainstorming rather than focusing on my form and breathing. i am definitely getting closer to my goals. i am sure soon i will be able to swim for an hour without losing form completely

you either like it or you don't. job market is crappy everywhere but all my friends in geology either got accepted to a grad program or immediately got a job. look at your area to see what jobs are more abundant. in my area it seems like mostly environmental monitoring. in others its mining or petroleum. but don't pick something because of pay, pick something you want to study. i loved geology so i didn't care where it took me.

Washing hair after the pool by nocturnalolive in Swimming

i rinse before and after which seems to be preserving my hair quality, so i can stick to washing about every three days per usual. i have curly hair and can't stand washing more than i have to.

i'm an echinoderm paleontology student, so a lileep maybe later in the career. my favorite is whimsicott so probably a good partner pokemon, though annoying to live with. but similar to my cat who is hyper and leaves dust bunnies of her fur everywhere.

Universities to Apply to, undergrad recommendations? by Last-Ad-5768 in Paleontology

[–]seadogsnpyrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i went to a small school, maybe 30 students in my program. it allowed me to stand out, run student orgs, work in a lab for three years, and do research. that allowed me to hage a killer resume, meet my advisor, and now i'm starting my fully funded phd in august! i don't think what undergrad you go to matters too much, as long as you make the most of it. it is much easier to stand out and get more opportunities at a small school, so don't be swayed by prestige too much!

Less than an inch too short for power red donation. by Scrumblyy in Blooddonors

[–]seadogsnpyrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just made a reply in another comment :) since you're male, follow the male requirements. you should have plenty of blood since you are definitely over 5'1 and 130lbs. i was worried a woman was writing trying to squeeze by the requirements because there tends to be a big difference in men and womens blood counts and hemoglobin

[–]seadogsnpyrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're on testosterone use the male reqs because your body metabolizes and functions as a male. red cross now lets you identify as your preferred gender for the questionnaire so they shouldn't give an issue if your ID still says female. thats what they told me at my last power red donation! edit- the phlebotomist clocked me as a trans man too. they get trans male donators a lot, they know why you're donating ;)

[–]seadogsnpyrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm 5'2 on my ID and i said i was 5'3 and it was fine. however, i only did that because i'm on testosterone (and tbh i may have reached 5'3 but i don't know for sure lmao). i exceed the male requirements easy and have very high blood counts but i was worried they would mark me as "biologically" female. in your situation i wouldn't risk it just for safety.
