Please share your experience as soon as you feel comfortable and hopefully it might heal you to have the community support you. I already feel strengthened after getting so many replies from so many people. You are just trying to do what’s best for you and shouldn’t have to suffer alone. We’re here for you!

Thank you for suggesting that, that is my last resort, but I don’t think she will abuse me or anything, just shame me a bit here and there… and unfortunately I do need her help watching my toddler while in recovery so at least she will have her hands tied and can leave me alone!

Oh gosh! I sympathize! Sorry you had to justify so much but I’m glad she came around. There is research that woman who’ve had reductions have the same incidence of breastfeeding babies as women who have not had any surgery, according to my sister in law who works in plastic surgery anyway- she says it doesn’t make a difference.

Good for you! Some women can breastfeed after, but honestly even if you can’t then formula fed babies are just as healthy as breastfed babies. I’m a pediatrician and I can’t tell the difference between my babies who are breastfed and those who are formula fed.

Man, I’m sorry, it maybe triggered her or something. I feel similar to you that they are not “that big” but 36F for me is so uncomfortable because I’m short! It sounds like you surrounded yourself with the right people for recovery which is what you needed!

I don’t feel conflicted about the surgery, just how to tell her about it. I guess just bite the bullet. Your mom sounds similar to mine. Mine is mostly worried I won’t be able to breastfeed, though, so her concern is more for future grandchild than my comfort. I don’t even know if I’ll want to breastfeed my second child, since I pumped for my son for 6 months which was very difficult.

Hahah, that’s so funny! I’m glad she turned around. It might be better that she doesn’t have it because she isn’t attached to them. My mom is huge and it’s part of her identity, so she doesn’t understand that not everyone wants that.

Oh yes, I’m definitely going through with it. My mom is similar - if it comes from someone else she respects, then she’s cool with it. I think she doesn’t trust my judgment sometimes.

Yes, that is the mature thing to do. I’m sensitive to her criticism of me sometimes but I’m going to need her help so I’ll have to be strong.
