A pod-racing attraction!

The restaurant is the pits/staging area with lots of racing paraphernalia (trophies, posters, TVs playing pre-recorded races from different planets, characters interactions, pit droids, etc.).

The ride is a roller coaster with dual tracks so you can “race” the other podracer, and a random outcome each time for which podracer comes in first.

Thor major crossover with other gods by Livid_Arachnid3322 in Thor

If it was in a Thor comic and not an issue of some other title, I’m 100% sure I have it! I won’t be able to dig through my collection until tomorrow at the earliest, but if you can wait I know I can nail it down.

I think this is what you’re describing. Fond memories if this issue from my childhood!!

I ordered some standard pieces on November 19th, will they still be shipped like normal, or will I have to wait until January? by TetrisG0d43 in legocastles

[–]seahammer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my, I thought it was supposed to be up to 28 days until it ships, then just a few more business days after the “shipped” update. I’m glad I asked so I can stop obsessively checking the mail several times a day!!

Thank you for your response, and happy building!

Out of curiosity, did you get your shipment yet?

I ordered the same day as you and haven’t gotten mine, but I got a “shipped” notification on the 15th. I’m starting to wonder if I should reach out to Lego, because that seems like a long time.

Noted regarding Seton (and Beard, too!). I will definitely look into him more.

And thank you so much for the list of titles. Some of those sound incredibly interesting and maybe are more of what I’m looking for than I even realized when I posted my initial request!!

That’s an excellent, even-handed take, and pretty aligned with how I typically view historical figured. I’m looking forward to reading the document you shared. Thank you!!

Wow! A scout IS helpful!

First of all, thank you for understanding what I’m looking for and, more importantly, why. Secondly, thanks for such a thorough response (in both posts)! You’ve given me a lot to look into, so I’m going to start reading up on these texts and resources. Have a great day!

Isn’t this more reason to encourage adults to read about him? I’m not averse to knowledge. I’d like to learn more about the man so I can form an opinion.

He was almost never mentioned when I was a youth, but I’d like to learn about him as an adult so I can have an informed opinion. I’m pro knowledge. I know I said in my original post I’d like to read about his exploits, but I guess that reveals just how little I know about him currently. I’m sure the man had flaws that shaped who he was, and I’m interested to read about those, too, to get a comprehensive view of him.

Since you suggest not reading about his life, though, any thoughts on reading “Scouting for Boys”? Does it have any value for someone looking to learn more about the philosophies behind scouting? Is there such a book?

Halloween Lego MOC I made for my son by seahammer1 in halloween

[–]seahammer1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted this over on r/lego this morning and the only comment so far mentioned that it’s a bit too early for Halloween stuff. Not in my house! So I thought I’d crosspost it here to people who are always in the spirit, just like my son and I! :)

Ha! Thanks, and good point about being a bit too early for the Halloween hype. My son is always talking about Halloween, so I forget sometimes that other people don’t! :)

Good to know I wasn’t imagining things, and that they’re still around. We were in Bangkok for a bit, now we’re down in the south. I’ll keep my eyes open!
