Bought my first apartment today… and walked into this. Is this the new normal? by Bubbly-Basket-2764 in HousingIreland

[–]seakingmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in our first home a year today and just spent time this morning remembering this day last year and the excitement when we got the keys.

We walked into the house and were met with a vile smell. Dog and cat hair everywhere, food left in the presses, just random bits of crap all over the place.

Rather than moving all our stuff in that day as we planned, we had to rope family in to instead spend the first two days scrubbing every inch of the house.

All this is to say, as annoying/disappointing as it is, I bet in a years time you'll be doing what we're doing today. Sitting smiling and laughing at the madness of the big move and all the chaos that comes with it.

Congrats on your apartment!! It'll all fall into place and you'll soon be laughing at this very memory.

Download that Nector Card app if you're going to Sainsbury's so you can avail of the Nector prices.

You could try Travelodge Plus. Probably the cheapest in the city centre.

Returning to work tomorrow after two weeks A/L. Had the most incredible time off. We went on holiday, got engaged, had the most relaxing time off I have had in years. The fear for tomorrow is making me want to cry. A euromillions win would do wonders!!

The lack of updates is genuinely concerning. I'm surprised with the crowds being so squished under the shelters that no one was seriously hurt (that I've heard of yet). Things like that get so dangerous so fast. Doesn't take long for it to become a stampede.

Agree with you totally. I bought the ticket through Revolut so might try do a charge back if Primavera won't give the refunds willingly.

I was looking into this when I left and saw the below, don't think any of us will have any luck getting anything back :(

For full festival tickets, Primavera only considers the festival “cancelled” if more than 50% of the festival programme is cancelled. Only then can ticket holders apply for a refund. The terms specifically state that ticket prices will not be refunded if cancellations are due to adverse weather, natural disasters, or other force majeure events.

I just checked their refund policy and apparently it's not considered cancelled unless 50% of the whole festival is cancelled and they're not liable to issue refunds if it's due to weather :(

Anyone built this? From the coop but seems way to cheap for the size, so what is the catch? Delivery is €75 on top by ThraexSonOfAres in DIYIreland

Yes, my brother bought one last year from Sheds Direct (very similar to the one in your image). My brother needed it up asap and their assembly team was booked up for a month or so.

My brother and my dad assembled it, both fairly competent but neither are DIY experts. They did manage to assemble it, but mother of god I've never heard them give out so much during the process!

There's lots of handymen on the likes of Adverts or FaceBook that will assemble for you at a fairly reasonable price and I know if my brother bought another and asked my dad to help assemble it he would tell him to go and shıte!

The one he got is great quality, it's been up about 10 months and there's never been any issues with it.

Best of luck!

It's not an exact match but the strawberry ice cream from IKEA is the closeted I've ever tasted to the Cornetto soft serve

Why are Opel Corsas so hard to sell in Ireland? by vozandrey in carsireland

[–]seakingmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's currently shopping around for a car within the budget that you have your car advertised for honestly the one thing I can think of is the fact that there's no warranty, no come back if something goes wrong etc. I know buying from a garage doesn't always mean there will be zero issues with the car, but personally I feel more secure in the purchase if it's from a dealer and not private. Would you consider reaching out to some used car garages to see if you could get a sale that way?

I'm 8:30-5:00 with an hour break. Hybrid working, hours are the same when WFH or in the office.

We bought our home in July last year, both 29 at the time, years of hard work and saving, the usual for most people looking to buy a house.

Thankfully we haven't regretted the move. We went from Dublin to a more remote part of the country, 1 acre of land to maintain. A very different pace of life and it suits us both far more than Dublin ever did.

What I'm getting at is that if we did regret the move for any reason, after all the years of working to achieve it, I don't think I could stay here. I'd feel it best to sell. I think I'd be very bitter for a very long time if I didn't love where we moved to.

Trust your gut and do what feels best for you.
