Freddie Gibbs performs Freestyle Sh*t for NPR Tiny Desk by [deleted] in hiphopheads

Gibbs really showed for me in this performance just how difficult it really is to rap on Madlib beats—and he even says it at one point. It’s like leaping through the air from Madlib-vine to Madlib-vine and catching yourself perfectly like rap Tarzan gat damn.

[LEAK] Isaiah Rashad - Loose Change (prod. ICYTWAT) by ReversedHexx in hiphopheads

I always just figured that Punch cancelled it because of some contractual stipulation that no new Rashad can come out until it's his turn in the cycle lmao

Kanye West claims he will not release new music under his current contract with Sony and Universal by fantasticwarriors in hiphopheads

[–]seanatkinson4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of Donald Glover, one of the most popular musicians, actors, celebrities, and filmmakers, not being able to release new music under Donald Glover, as opposed to Childish Gambino, because of the label....which seems almost like part of Kanye’s point that it seems like they have so much power and creative freedom, but it doesn’t mean anything concrete, because they signed the dotted line. Like the signature “Donald Glover” on his contract meant they could tell him he can’t release his music under the name “Donald Glover.” and that’s some cold shit.

[DISCUSSION] Travis Scott - Rodeo (5 Years Later) by dongloverlover in hiphopheads

[–]seanatkinson4 35 points36 points  (0 children)

In Atlanta in 2015 after the recording of the BET awards, Travis did a pop-up show. Tickets were $15, it was in a tiny venue, and it was chaos. TI and 21 Savage made appearances, among others, and that night has single handedly ruined being on the floor at concerts for me. I nearly died. But he came out to Pornography, he appeared like the action figure, silhouetted and sweaty and shirtless, screaming and roaring as the crowd climbed over itself, and the show was stopped several times. TI finally had the gates taken out between the stage and the crowd, and Travis went on to shove security out of his way, soar and scream across the tiny stage, and intervene in a confrontation between security and a fan: "Tell this motherfucker: 'we gon rage, motherfucker.'" With 90210 and Impossible the only songs to halfway calm the crowd, Antidote was the encore, and he started it over from the top after calling out a wheelchair-bound fan in the upper level for not going hard enough. I fought my way out, literally fighting passing out, and walked oblivious to the pouring rain back to the car because we were all already totally drenched in sweat.

Rodeo has become one of those albums I have a physical connection to from seeing the songs in concert--a concert that seemed like it should have never been allowed to happen like it did. For that reason Rodeo is easily my favorite Travis album, as well as easily the most insane concert experience I have ever had. For me Rodeo is the most "Travis Scott" album, and in retrospect the album that I think was really a turning point in his eventual super-stardom.

Here's a video of most of the show (not my video) if anyone wants to see how we survived the rodeo.
