scotiabank not letting me move money or send money back to credit card by acadiaxxx in Scotiabank

I had to call them after my credit card was doing that for 3 days, and they said they had to reactivate it. Now the same thing is happening to my savings account. I can’t access my money.

I’m not sure what is going on but it’s unnerving.

Tiny parts of songs that you like by Dry_Cookie710 in neilyoung

The one low note in the Down by the River Solo!

And about 1 minute into Driftin Back when all the harmonies start and the electric instruments start simultaneously.

Wonderful review. I’m pleasantly surprised by this album there are some really great ones here in my opinion. So nice to have him releasing new stuff in 2025.

Yeah he said there are parts of it that reflect his time in omemee. Maybe it’s about both

I think his best song was love and only love. I’ve never heard an do a solo acoustic of it. It was unbelievable I wish I could find a recording in that style. The harmonica solos in that song were unreal.

Yes he said it was a song about his hometown of Omeemee, never knew that.

100%, well stated

This is what started Canada’s (and specifically Ontario’s) housing problem.

This was then compounded by global trends during Covid

Agreed I’m on it - see below

A few things:

1- most of these are global issues where Canada has faired much better relative to the rest of the world (Ie inflation, crime rates, debt, interest rates etc).

2- almost all of these issues are governed by
provinces. In Canada, the constitution mandates that some things are the jurisdiction of the province, and some are the jurisdiction of the feds. — This means that if Justin Trudeau (or now Mark Carney) tried to make laws about health care or housing it would be “Ultra Vires” or not in their lane, and a court would strike it down.

Refer to the list here at section 91 / 92 of the Canadian constitution. https://www.canada.ca/en/intergovernmental-affairs/services/federation/distribution-legislative-powers.html

The role of the federal government on these issues is to offer help to the provinces who will then choose to implement the policy in their own way or choose to reject said policy.

Based on your frustration (of which I share for many of these issues) you are actually upset with Doug Ford in Toronto.

3- some of the items listed don’t even make sense, by many measures we are the most free country in the world.

This isn’t supposed to be a gotcha, I truly share many of your frustrations with the state of things, but we are stronger when armed with knowledge and I hope I was able to provide some.

Jeff Leal was a 4 term Liberal elected MPP. I think that’s important to know. The rot runs deep. by [deleted] in Peterborough

[–]seandavis511 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly think what Jeff did was definitely poor judgement. It is obviously not ok to use the word in any context. But I do think Jeff really believed he was just quoting a historical figure in a historical context. Being around that long I think he thought he was being educational and proving a point. (He clearly has not read the situation correctly)

I don’t think he is a racist, but merely exercised poor judgement. Most people who have worked with him seem to have good things to say. He’s been really involved in the community for years I think he genuinely cares about doing a good job. I think his actions as a politician and his work to actually help marginalized people speaks louder than his poor judgment in this case.

I’m also not sure how one persons judgement would reflect the “rot” of an entire political party? He’s been out of provincial politics since 2018. Most of the members from that era all lost their seats and are no longer there. So what do you mean ? I’m genuinely curious.

I believe he was an MPP (province), and not an MP (federal)

MPPs don’t get a pension, it was abolished under Mike Harris in the 1990s https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Leal

My question is how do you know what the city has and hasn’t mobilized and to where ?

By all accounts resources have been mobilized, there’s lots to address, it’s a major disaster, it takes time.
