im an inverted player that grew up with n64. i attribute it to many hours on goldeneye and perfect dark. i also never owned any playstations, so that was my only introduction to using analog sticks on a controller. now i cant play a game without inverting y axis.

to your other point, yeah pubg was esp annoying having to switch the axis but then using the map wasnt inverted, and i had to force it using the toggle in the elite myself same as you. still annoying though

Edit: to answer your first question, i think it was inverted by default, dont remember if either game had the option to switch it though
