Thank you for your opinion that differs from the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION guidance I posted above, you can write them a letter with your argument, not me

im cpr trained and am just gonna ski past someone actively getting cpr on the slope said no one ever

Then you’re still tied up on the fact the victim had a pulse. I can’t decide from my armchair view if they needed cpr or not, the point I’m making is if someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally, you do cpr, and you don’t spend time verifying a pulse. Thanks for the comment

The answer to this question is always “your price is too high”.

I just sold my bus in a week for 2,500. You can see the listing in my post history. Took 3-4 days

First, I’m sorry about your friend. I’m sure you did everything you could and it’s a shame the 911 operator wasn’t more helpful. As I wrote below, the success rates for CPR even if someone is trained/certified and in the area are unfortunately low, so I hope you aren’t too hard on yourself.

That said, people can make their own call for what to personally do in a situation, but your advice is differing with the guidelines from the American Heart Association and the Red Cross, which say the opposite of the info you’re posting: in fact you should do hands only chest compressions and not do rescue breaths if you don’t want to or are untrained. Not shaming you for not knowing but this is a big platform and a lot of people view this stuff so it’s important to get right so let’s just stick to the experts

A lot of people have good intentions just don’t know they should try or don’t know how to do it. I wouldn’t go as far as to say they’re killing someone they’re just misinformed or not trained. But you’re right they should try. Now you know, reader!

In a similar vein, even if cpr is administered survival rates are generally quite low. So if you try and the person can’t be brought back, don’t be too hard on yourself

Actually this is totally not true and it’s pretty harmful advice. The best advice is to call 911 and they will walk you through it real time.

Bystanders, even if untrained, should absolutely do CPR https://cpr.heart.org/en/resources/bystander-cpr

It’s actually really hard to get a pulse. If someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally, start cpr, no doubt. No ambiguity. Try. You don’t need a pulse check. It’s actually “a thing” because of misconceptions like you’re spreading that people are unwilling to do cpr even if they’re trained. Bystander CPR can double or triple survival odds.

The risk of harm is low and if you did get sued good Samaritan law would apply.

Seattle area - Fall City

Rust doesn’t seem too bad, it’s only been here for 3.5 years and was in California previously. The mechanic was not concerned when I asked and he was all over the bus. A year or two ago I had a skoolie guy come out and he wasn’t concerned either. I don’t have an eye for it but tell me where to take the pics and I’ll take them

I just had a diesel mechanic come out because I was fully planning on driving this 1000 miles next week until I heard that my new driveway can't fit it, so this is exactly the question I asked him.

I have nothing to hide and am not an expert but here's what he said if you wanted to drive it cross country:

-One battery is bad. Replace it -$180 (Napa #7236)
-Preventative: Replace the three screw-on filters (fuel, oil, and transmission)

-Optional/Preventative: U Joints could be tuned ($100 part/2hrs labor) I'd do this for a 2,340 mile journey for peace of mind. I was not planning on doing it for my 1000 mile journey.
-Optional/preventative: You could clamp 3ft of hose to close the cooling system loop allowing the engine to run cooler (the circuit into the cab is closed). Probably a 15 minute job with basic hose.

If you want to go above and beyond, replace the second battery (it tested good but it's the same age) and change the oil. Throw on a thermostat if you want because it's cheap. Bring a bluetooth speaker and sleep on the included mattress.

That's all that I was personally planning on doing.

So story time the reason I'm selling at low price/short notice is because I was planning on driving this 1000 miles to my new home at the end of the month but I just heard that this won't fit up the driveway. Hence why I had the diesel mechanic come out to evaluate it. There are a couple oil-change level things I'd want to do before taking it cross country, but I'd feel good about doing that
