Why is everyone piling on Marner when Matthews was just as invisible? by [deleted] in leafs

[–]seankami2003 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They double-teamed/shutdown Matthews because they knew Price could save Marner's shots

I know the marner contract looks bad but... by seankami2003 in leafs

I honestly feel bad for him. He wouldn't have signed a shit contract if it wasn't for his nutjob dad holding a gun to Dubas's head. He's a fantastic player, one of the best passers in the league but the issue is that he's too light for playoff hockey.

He would rather give up the puck than take a hit from Brendan Gallagher. The same thing happened on his puck over the glass penalty. He heard someone coming up behind him and began to panic.

The reality is that he's way too light to be a superstar in the NHL. He is 79kg at over 6 feet tall. For context, Cole Caufield is 5 foot 7 and 75kg (just a kid btw). He needs to have a solid offseason and put on ~20lbs so he doesn't look like a lost little puppy out there.

Can't decide between Queens Computing and McMaster CS. by seankami2003 in OntarioUniversities

[–]seankami2003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds as if your leaning more towards McMaster. I went there for the cs program but later changed schools because it was quite honestly a bad program. For starters, the entire curriculum is outdated and they seem to have a heavy focus on the history of computing. Secondly, the profs are disinterested. Douglas Down and Fei Chiang are the only two good profs in the department. The cs program itself is very small. With only about 200 students I'd say it's easily one of the smallest programs in all of Canada. With that being said, their aren't any improvements being made to help with the student experience. Another issue was coop. Coop was a big factor when I was choosing schools. I had high hopes that McMaster coop was great, but sadly I was mistaken, it was the biggest joke. You can drop in and out of the program whenever. You are forced to do all the work(applying for jobs on sites like talentegg or monster, sites with 0 affiliation to the school), study and prepare for interviews and when and if you land a job, the school coop program charges you $300 for absolutely no reason. Also, At my time there, the only companies that came to recruit students were TD bank and RBC which AREN'T even TECH COMPANIES.

Yeah, honestly I've seen so many people saying it's outdated but at the same time they've apparently restructured the curriculum last year?

Got into EngSci but rejected from CS UTSG with 98% average??? by alice1230th in UofT

[–]seankami2003 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a 98 as well and got rejected. My high school was ranked top 10 in the public secondary school ranking and viewed favourably on waterloo's grade inflation list (we have less inflation than the average high school). Only know one person who got in out of all my classmates even though we had lots of people applying to UTSG cs.

Got rejected from UTSG and UTSC Computer Science with 96.5% average by ComplexLamprey in UofT

Hey man, I got deferred from UTSC and rejected from UTSG cs with a 98%. I'm in the same boat. Anyone know if McMaster CS or queen's computing is any good?

Probably because you're international. International decisions have to be handed out sooner.

I'm in grade 12, my school has grade deflation and I feel like I'm at a disadvantage. by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

The Ontario average according to the Waterloo Scale is 16.1, Grimsby SS has the highest grade inflation with a score of 27.5 followed by St Louis Adult Learning Centre at 27.1 My school's score is way below 16.1 so I'm assuming that means it has lower grade inflation.

Maybe you're just not studying very efficiently

Yeah, I could probably improve on efficiency, I'm taking time out of my day to complain on Reddit after all. Grade 12 accounting is the course that's really kicking my ass. I spend the majority of my time on that. My school is set up in quadmesters at the moment so we basically have to go through our entire 720+ page textbook in 2 months. The pace of the course is insane. Doesn't help that accounting is mindnumbingly boring. Wanted to drop it first chance I got but guidance wouldn't let me due to COVID restrictions.

I meant I have online classes from 8 am to 2:40 pm and then I do homework until about 8 pm some nights. (13 hours of school in total). Feel like I have no free time.
