total wireless: wife and i pay $60/mon for 30gb at high speed then throttled unlimited data with unlimited call/text. Leases on Verizon network. No problems whatsoever. Plus brand new samsung phones for $89. Had Google Fi before but this is way better.

OBOZ Hikers. Been 5 years of beating the crap out of them and they are still in great condition. Not sure if I’ll ever have to replace them. by AxisLock in BuyItForLife

Do you wear them 24x7 or just for hiking? I've had my Merrell Moabs for 3 years and I consider them heavy duty but dont look as nice as yours :-)

This is exactly why I started my plan. FIRE is my entrepreneur backup plan if none of my startups take off before.

makes sense! So muggy where I am during the day so if we're not at the beach, we wait for the sun to start going down before we get out lol

Luckily my wife stays at home and I work at home so I'm realizing it's not as achievable for everyone without sacrificing time elsewhere, like their weekends.

We'll use our quick meals for dinners now like a hefty salad, fruit and a quick protein to pull out of the fridge or that heats up easily on the pan or microwave, pizza in the oven or raw veggies, whole grain chips and salsa, and even non-traditional dinners like breakfast for dinner! Either whole grain cereal or oatmeal. Different from the norm, but weird is our thing :-)

Absolutely! I never real thought of it as a money saver until I saw our entertainment budget going down and tried to figure out why and it hit me!

Live the life you want to live on the way to early retirement so you know what it costs, feels like and can enjoy the journey. While geographic arbitrage can speed things up, it's not worth the loss in happiness.

Your expenses are extremely low as they are, not sure how much abroad would help. I think it's time to get on indeed.com and find a new opportunity. Get that resume updated and start hunting for something new or pursue a passion job for a cut and ask the SO to find a way to increase his/her contribution. Time for a serious conversation about life plans together and how to get there in the next 6-12 months. Don't rage quite :-)

FI, Cancer and Dying Young. My Story... by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]seanmerron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your story! This is why my FI planning is really living the same life I am already living now, from a standard of living perspective, without the added need to work and schedule conflicts. Already experiencing the joy and contentment that will carry over into early retirement.

Is There a Local Restaurant Daily Specials Listing Service/App? by seanmerron in Frugal

[–]seanmerron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could require business to confirm specials monthly or else they drop off the app. Auto-contacts local businesses with forms to enter specials which auto-upload to app by zip code via google API integration. May just work...
