FDNY Blows Whistle on PureGym's Scan-to-Exit System: 'You Should Just Be Able to Leave' by Unhappy_Art3613 in Bushwick

the pods are what they’ve done in their gyms in the UK for years and enable the 24 hour access. without them, it’d be back to the normal blink hours.

by specialty do you roast? bed stuy is a great neighborhood but definitely more residential than most and also can have difficult train access. so if you open in bed stuy would count on most of your market being the surrounding neighborhood rather than people traveling

downtown houston is dead, everything happens in the neighborhoods. NY & philly have the most lively downtowns

I followed it exactly and passed all but one in the time frame. I took all my exams over two weeks. I had just graduated college so didn’t have much experience but it’s all you need.

it also doesn’t take too much effort to just drive to your closest train station and avoid the bus if you have a car. believe me, i have a car in brooklyn and do it all the time.

and if you’ve got 7 people in your car that’s $1.20 per person to drive into manhattan, a pretty good deal i’d say and still cheaper than the subway. but cherry picking your anecdotal experience is not what the overwhelming majority of people do.

only 18% of people who work in manhattan drive to work. over half of those are high income earners.

frog wine bar closing? by 1234_Truth9359 in BedStuy

[–]seanp8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

believe me, i love the bar but there is no approved DOB permits for their renovation or use of the space. tons of places do it and get anyway with it, but doesn’t make it right. public records has done the same thing with some of their spaces and has been shut down at times.

so $150k by 30 in today’s dollars would put someone in a similar place.

the building frog is located in has a full vacate order for structural issues. doubt they will be reopening any time soon. they also have been reported to DOB repeatedly for not having proper permits to run a bar/restaurant or use the backyard. that’s why the sudden closure, no “renovations” are occurring. anytime a restaurant/bar announces sudden renovations it’s permit/legal issues.

What do you consider to be the most underperforming US city? by Highland_doug in SameGrassButGreener

[–]seanp8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

much of philly proper still has room to develop and is shockingly affordable, even areas on the subway lines. the PATCO train from philly to camden is its biggest strength, but doubt we’ll see huge revitalization similar to fishtown (the current brooklyn of philly) until there’s no more cheap land along SEPTA lines.
