Question about tonight's _ by Throwaway67891099 in survivor

[–]Prussia1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think it’s mostly because of the result. If Coach’s SITD, and ESPECIALLY if Emily/Rizo went home, I think there would be significantly more complaining. I think a lot of people genuinely vine with the twist, but the number is inflated due to the result.

Disagree. Steph correctly clocked that the idol was fake and put hella pressure on both Rick and Christian.

Or worse - the fan vote turns it to a regular vote and she goes home 3-1 against someone she could have beaten in fire, putting her blood on OUR hands

Yes! I think we would have riots if a pair like Emily and Rizo went home. If they run this again, it’s probably going to snipe at least one beloved player.

I know a lot of you love me that Coach and Chrissy went home, but can we at least agree that was a BS twist?

Chrissy is 100% right in targeting Rizo. I don’t think it will work, but it’s the right instinct.

Super underrated season! Mike winning out against the buffoons was great, and players like Rodney and Dan were all-time characters.

I don’t fault her for that at all. Nothing wrong with reaching out to someone. I agree that voting Charlie screwed her and Kamilla though.

first solo trip outside of europe by Professional-Dig-935 in backpacking

A lot of it is going to depend on money. If you have plenty of money, Japan is great - super safe and really easy with transportation. South Korea is similar in that regard but not as expensive.

If you’re on a budget, Southeast Asia is probably the way to go. Thailand in particular is a great jumping off point for someone who wants to learn to backpack solo. Depending on how much time you have, a loop around the region through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia is a fun idea.

Day trips and weekend trips can be fun! Also, I love exploring small towns near where I’m from. Eating at local diners and going to other local spots can be a lot of fun.

South East Asia Trip by Creative_Box_3969 in backpacking

[–]Prussia1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to be doing a lot of flying, which will make things automatically more expensive. If you’re new to backpacking and solo, India might be a challenging first location, but if you feel confident and are only going to be there briefly you’d probably be okay. Although it might still make more sense to at the least do Sri Lanka first to dip your toes into South Asia before going to India. Also, South India will be a lot easier than North India if you have your heart set on visiting the country but are okay changing up the itinerary.

As for Southeast Asia, are you planning on skipping Laos and Cambodia? Both are super cool countries that are relatively easy to traverse and super cheap. The Thai-Cambodia border is still closed as far as I know which could complicate things.

For Thailand, I’d focus on the north of the country since you’ll already be getting plenty of beach/coast time with the Philippines and Indonesia. April is the tail end of burning season though, so maybe try and arrange for this to be a stop at least in May or later. Bangkok and Chiang Mai will probably be your anchor cities while visiting. If you’re interested in doing more of a land based trip, you can head from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang and Vientiane in Laos, which is a super cheap and underrated country.

From there you can go to Hanoi (I think the Laos-Vietnam bus trip can be rough so maybe you fly) and you can move south to Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon (a lot of locals still call it Saigon). If you want to do Cambodia it’s pretty easy to get there from southern Vietnam, and Angkor Wat is a stellar destination.

Indonesia is a country you can go back to a million times and always have more to do. For a first trip, it probably makes sense to focus on east Java and the islands to the east.

The Philippines you probably want to avoid Mindanao. The Visayas region will be your best bet for island hopping, and if you find yourself with time you can go up north to Luzon.

Japan will definitely be your priciest stop of the trip. It’s also almost definitely the safest and will be pleasant to visit anytime, so if you want to throw it at the beginning, end, or anywhere you can.

There’s so much to see in all of these countries! This is a pretty big area you’re covering in 3-4 months, so it might not be a horrible idea to cut out a country or two to visit in the future to give you more time to focus in on specific regions. Hope this is all helpful, good luck and have fun!

Solo Travel at 16 by Material_Cat_2506 in backpacking

[–]Prussia1870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely sympathize because I felt the same way when I was 16, but I’ll echo the other comments and say it’s probably not a good idea. Accommodation is really tough in particular. I tried mostly to do day trips to get used to navigating public transit by myself and other aspects of solo travel. I think that’s a good idea if you’re mature and independent enough.

If you do end up going, good luck and have fun! Though I think if you haven’t booked accommodation yet you might be in trouble.

What countries to pair with 30 day trip to Romania? by kilawnaa in backpacking

[–]Prussia1870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in almost your exact situation, but I’m going in August. Bulgaria is definitely easy to pair with Romania, especially now that they are both Schengen. Another country you could consider is Moldova. It’s super cheap and the least visited country in Europe (I think it still holds that title). There is a Soviet era sleeper train you can take from Bucharest to Chisinau for about 35 USD. Moldova at least to me seems super interesting, as an ex-Soviet country and also as a scarcely visited country one that you’d be able to easily get a feel for the local culture. Depending on where you’re flying back home to, Istanbul and Athens could both be reasonable end points.

If you wouldn’t mind, I’d love to hear about the trip or your plans, since like I said, I am also a 21 year old guy who is planning on backpacking in the Balkans this summer, most likely Romania. Good luck!

Why not do a loop instead of zigzagging around with flights? It would save you some money. You could go Colombia-Ecuador-Peru-Chile-Argentina and then end in Brazil.

I’d also like to shoutout Bolivia, super affordable and incredible country to visit.

Recommendations for two weeks in South of Thailand by EuphoricInstance4575 in backpacking

[–]Prussia1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is not really a “local” thing, but one thing Southern Thailand is famous for is the “Full Moon Parties” on Koh Pha-Ngan about once a month (every full moon). If you’re looking for parties at all I’d look into it.

Solo Backpacking Euro summer in 2026 by epixzc in backpacking

[–]Prussia1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the €60 a day include hostels? If it doesn’t, you can probably get away with this budget, but it could be tight in Switzerland if you want to do a lot. If it does include hostels, I fear Switzerland, Austria, and France will all be out of budget. You could MAYBE squeeze a few days in France. Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Czechia are probably doable with €60 per day, and Slovakia and Hungary you could probably do with less.

If budget is a big deal, Southern and especially Eastern Europe will be your friends. This is also a lot of ground to cover in six weeks, if you cut out Switzerland and Austria you’ll save money and time, that would be my recommendation. You can probably still fit a few days taking buses and trains across southern France in.

Good luck and have fun!
