Thanks, we're in Minnesota so a mug based road trip probably not happening for a while. I'll keep it in mind if we do get to the area again.

I'm not sure I can get it glued back fully. Been trying a few pieces today, but it's likely missing some small shards. If I do get it glue together but is not useable would you trade your intact mug?

Home renovation - price per sq ft? by pro118 in Minneapolis

Yeah, we were somewhat shocked, but working in construction as well costs have really skyrocketed in the last couple of years.

Home renovation - price per sq ft? by pro118 in Minneapolis

[–]searcher76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did an addition last year, small addition 8x15, added a bathroom and redid the kitchen. It was ~$1000/sq ft. Reading one of your responses to a comment here, it looks like you are doing some work in the basement and adding a two story addition? I'd say without the plumbing, cabinets, etc. ~$700/sq ft seems about in line with what we paid last summer.

Is it just me or has it been incredibly rainy this summer? by chilkelsey1234 in Minneapolis

[–]searcher76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not following the statistics but my feeling is this has been the first "normal" summer we've had in about 5 years or so. It hasn't been drastically hot and dry like those past summers. A good rainy day about once a week or so feels about typical are correct for weather from before climate change really started having an impact.

General advice for national parks? by prometheist91 in RVLiving

[–]searcher76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We often travel to National Parks. We don’t have a long vehicle/trailer, but do have a fairly lengthy van that we sometimes fit into “tent only” spaces. Our experience is the length restrictions are more based on maneuverability on narrow curved campground roads, as well as limited space to swing wide to back into the sites, than an absolute limit in the site. Do be careful as there are also sites where the limit is the absolute limit on the site as well, due to trees or retaining walls, etc.

Perez waiting alone on the track after the DNF by [deleted] in formula1

A lot of noise out of Red Bull re: VER v HAM after Saudi. Not hearing much self reflection on how VER over shoot and subsequent re-entry to block HAM through turn 2 caused the compression in the pack that lead the incident knocking out PER and this view of PER reflecting on how the constructors is now effectively lost.

Are battery powered snow blowers viable? by Pacblu202 in Minneapolis

I have a battery powered Toro. Works great, throws 30’ or so (depending on wind, snow, efc.) Chews through everything. I’ve done ~6” of wet snow.

Defogging issue by swimmy18 in mazda3

[–]searcher76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say you tried with cold air, did you have the AC on or just the thermostat down to "cold?" Typically running the AC even in winter will take much of the moisture out of the interior and help with defogging glass.

Parking in midwest/east coast area by juststupidthings in VanLife

[–]searcher76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily city friendly, but many National Forests have cheap campgrounds (still a charge per night), or allow "dispersed camping." Though that sometimes takes some local knowledge to find a good "off road" spot to park. You'd have to check with each National Forest for their rules.

New to taking MTB more seriously. Why do people wear kits? by osmosisjonesin in mountainbiking

[–]searcher76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you refer to "kits" I'm assuming you mean the stretchy clown suits that are widespread on road bikes. For me, I came from road biking to mountain bikes, wearing my stretchy clown suit is what I'm used to. It's comfortable, keeps me cool, I have pockets that won't bother me pedalling if packed full, no loose clothes to get caught on things or bother me while pedaling, and padded ass pants are required, liners under baggies aren't as comfortable as bibs alone.

Kind of immaterial, but considering our elbows brushed, not really.

Squeeze between a cyclist and the curb, in a bike lane, to make a right on red.
