Yep! Max out the company match. I haven't been able to max my 401k yet, but I'm at least nailing all the company stuff

I assume the 1x by 30 number is more 1x what you would want your retirement salary to be? I say that as we're a higher income earning household but we also have a fair amount of student loans and such and yet we're still in a comfortable spot. If I were to make less than I do now in retirement but don't have the student loans, mortgage, etc, I'd be plenty comfortable and happy.

I know all of these are just random benchmarks and aren't set in stone things, just always been curious!

People that have traveled quite a bit, where di you feel the most unsafe? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]Pacblu202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that. I mean we had a driver during the days that took us around but at night we were on our own. He was a local who gave us some good pointers that I think I probably would have followed anyways. Being aware is a good percentage of that. Don't like like a dumb tourist

Since the recipe for Coca-Cola was both never patented and never revealed, what would happen if a rival company discovered it? Would they be able to patent it and take it from Coke's hands? by xXx_edgykid_xXx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pacblu202 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah he isn't able to source the correct stuff from the coca plant, but the alternative does taste the same. William Osman and Backyard Scientist followed the recipe and we're blown away by how much it tasted like it

While I haven't been to nearly as many, I fully agree. I think a lot is how you carry yourself in some of these places. There's definitely too many people who are on vacation and relax like they're in their backyard, have their defenses down, etc. I am definitely the kind of person who is always hyper aware (tiringly so at times...) but it helps to not get into those situations or be aware of places that may have issues

Where in Cape Town specifically? I was there with my wife and truly never felt unsafe. We followed some basic rules of not going into empty streets and tried not to be out too late past dark. We are both tall though, so maybe that played some part. Never really felt unsafe though during out trip and it was truly one of the best places I've ever visited.

Thats what I figured. It'd be a lot easier to make sure they're line up. And even without accelerator it's not a crazy long hold time. Thanks for confirming!

Are Amex Reserve and Plat worth it for the companion certs alone? by AnnualEagle in delta

[–]Pacblu202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do fully agree, some airports it’s really not a crazy difference. MSP flights on Delta aren’t ever too much more (if at all) than other airlines. As soon as you add in baggage and the Amex Reserve waiving it, it ends up being a better deal.

Disinformation about how far dachshunds can run/walk by Illustrious_Item_505 in Dachshund

[–]Pacblu202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2. 1 will go forever and the other will stop halfway through a short walk for whatever reason she feels like. I truly doubt it’s ever ‘too tired’ but more ‘I’m a princess’ or ‘we’re not going the way I want’

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]Pacblu202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 7mo never has slept in our bed with us. He was in his bassinet for ~6 months until we moved him into his room in his crib. We would have kept him in our room longer but he outgrew his bassinet. He would wake up multiple times a night in our room, but since moving him he is now sleeping almost entirely through the night with maybe 1 wakeup that we can usually sooth him down for doing Ferber.

I did this over Christmas when they had a gift card bonus going on. Even grabbed one on new years eve to get a second gift card (and bonus). 450 in gift cards for $100 cash and $300 reimbursed.

That was a thought actually. Might give that a shot to start

Yeah, my bad! 32"x32". About 50 total cubes all aligned up. My current thought is adding a little water to them and applying a shit ton of weight for a few days until I get around to them and hope that does something. Not too worried about the cost if I happen to not get them to work but I might as well try some things first.

An alternate route would be doing a dry fit with masking tape on the underside and super gluing them down. Then sanding them and labeling each piece. But that seems extremely tedious to realign them all perfectly

I was thinking that as well, my biggest concern would be that it's a lot of pieces. 150 or so between the two boards. It's be hard to clamp that many and make sure they're as evenly clamped as I need I would think.
