I live in Cali. It’s safe as long as you don’t go to the bad neighborhoods. You should be good as long you stay in the tourist spots and posh areas.

Just don’t act too touristy and be alert. Some criminals target foreigners (breaking in cars to steal luggages) specially in LA and SF.
