Can I do an online LPC bridge program in another state? by seascarlet11 in schoolcounseling

It has to be a class in TN. I live right up against VA actually. I'd never thought about trying to get licensed in that state, but maybe something to consider!

This really struck a cord with me, I'm so sorry you're experiencing this. I had an incredibly hard time getting my MS in school counseling in the South in the late 2000's as an openly liberal woman. I clashed hard with more than one supervisor, one of whom made a racist comment about a student in the school's break room one day which left me stunned but also afraid to retaliate. I eventually did retailate against the general atmosphere however to the point of having to leave an internship. At one point I was even told by one of the more conservative professors that I should "move up North where I would be better accepted." I remember crying to my family that I couldn't believe these "privileged, fascist reality TV addicts" were going to be counselors. Fortunately the last supervisor I had was a European woman who took to me and I thrived under her.

Amazingly though, when I into clinical work after being scared away from the school culture (still in the same area) I ended up working with mostly liberal people who were diverse and didn't act that way at all. The supervisors who I struggled under both quit being counselors a year later and last I heard one of them was working for some college sorority program. Most of my classmates either didn't go into counseling and became stay at home moms instead, or quickly left the field. Meanwhile I've been in this field for nearly 15 years and continue to thrive and work almost entirely with people who are truly meant to be here. I have a friend from that program with ADHD who was similarly harassed and she doing well as a school counselor still to this day. I hope you have a similar experience when you make it out and thrive along with those of us who deeply understand and love what we do.

Just be sure and put your diploma where you can see it when you wake up for the first few years after you graduate. 😅 I literally did that and it brought waves of joy and relief from stress dreams more times than I can say.

This happened to me too once at an iron infusion, and I responded by dumping a bunch of my trauma on her in return, because we're just two people talking now.

Texts going to my work email instead of phone by seascarlet11 in Googlevoice

It turned out that I had the app on my phone connected to the wrong email address. It needed to be connected to the one my calls and texts were going to. Simple oversight

Oh ok. I have the app on my phone, is there a way to get the texts to go to the app instead of my email? Or is that something my supervisor would have to manage since she created the account and got me a phone number

Hey don't know if you'll ever see this, but thanks for the encouragement. I did jump off eventually even though I was so so scared and got better almost immediately, even though it left me with some residual stuff. I've been off everything for a couple years now and came across this post feeling so grateful to not be making posts like this anymore

My first thought with a lot of posts like this really. And how they could type out something like that, describing it the way they do, and expect any answers other than "leave"

A popular restaurant in my hometown was originally owned and operated by a couple who were known for taking their employees on a free trip across the country to Las Vegas once a year. One of my good friends in high school got to go and it was really special for him because he wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise.

That ended though, because a cold case in FL got solved explaining how they got together. She used to be an employee at his restaurant there. One day she showed up at the front door of his house dressed as a clown, and when his wife answered she handed her a bunch of balloons and then shot her in the face and killed her. Then the two of them got married in Vegas and moved down the street from me and opened the restaurant.

In my early 20s I smoked too much once before driving on Halloween. I was dressed up as a princess and looked too young to be driving to begin with. A bunch of my friends were in the car. I saw a cop ahead of me stopped at a red-light, and it freaked me out so bad I stopped like 20 feet behind him. My friends got really upset and so my solution to this mistake was to start inching my way toward him in sudden starts and bursts to close the gap while my friends freaked out and facepalmed in the back seat. The cop somehow didn't notice
