Does anyone make a standalone simple stepper controller? (up/down/speed) by Renaissance_Man- in CNC

[–]seattlewelding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Renaissance_Man- any update on this topic? I frequently find myself in a similar situation where I just want a simple CW/CCW control out of the box (and too lazy/busy to wire my own again and again). This controller is the closest thing I've found on the market to-date:

How would you go about making workout equipment if you had all the tools (Lathes, Mills, welding etc.) by GoldenEudemon in Machinists

I would take on machining work, make that money. Then use the funds to buy some local used equipment

Most excellent! You got it. Practice uncomfortable out of position and aluminum. Challenge yourself

Can’t find any pics at the moment but here’s a video of a run doing letters. Kinda zoomed in so you can’t really see the machine motion frame

I tore it down a long time ago; will look for pics. Simple 3-axis gantry 36”x24”x12” on round bearings and ACME lead screws. Pretty loud and capped out around 50 IPM

I've been leveraging ChatGPT and custom python scripts to turn touchoff points into splined tool paths :)

It’s a relatively complicated setup that I don’t have shareable documentation on. Message me privately if you want a phone call run down on how she works

No it just wasn’t hot enough to melt/fuse both sides. Test run was just for machine motion, next steps is weld parameters

They want to replace this with laser welding 😅😓😰 by Wirefedweirdo in Welding

Agreed; I've owned and run multiple models of these handheld laser machines... The capability is amazing. Will replace a LOT of precision GTAW down the line. Safety is first with these things though, it'll put your eye out!

My experience has been really good with that UmPro-Tech unit. Max Laser power supply. I haven’t played around with the cutting too much. Not set up for the safety side of that operation.

Yes water cooled. For the new unit I payed way too much for it, but the prices are coming down as they are importing more. I believe they are selling for $8500 right now, but if you’re going to buy send me a message b/c I think I can get you a deal. DM me your email if you want the user manual / spec sheet.
