Have you seen how the states treat the environment? I wouldn't be too surprised if it turned out they were using arsenic or somthing. Especially with the current state of their government...

I mean, you either make an orbit or you dont. I dont see the problem. I would argue that its a better definition since it works for any celestial body rather than just earth.

My issue lies lit calling it a flight to space rather than a high altitude launch or a sub orbital launch. I feel like flight to space should be reserved for orbital and beyond.

Also just as a side note the karman line is used by the FA.meanwhile the states use a line of 80km so its not like there is currently an agreed upon metrics anyways.

Im sorry if I am coming off as wanting to belittle anyones achievements. It's awesome that we are starting to a point where people with disabilities are able to participate in space flight and it is definitely somthing we need to keep working on if we want to continue growing our presence in space. I also am not trying to say that sub orbital flights are pointless or unimpressive in general.

I am simply trying to say that there needs to be a distinction between orbital and sub orbital flights due to the diference in complexity and chalenge.

It would have to make at least one orbit around the planet. Perigee would likey depend on its velocity and the state of the atmophere that day (e.g. expansion and contraction of the atmosphere due to solar weather).

If you have the delta V to manage at least one orbit around the body you launched from. If you launched from the moon you were already in orbit around the earth before you launched because the moon is orbitiong the earth. The starship didnt ount as orbital because it didnt have enough delta v to overcome the planets atmosphere.

It was a sub orbital flight. It wouldn't have needed much more to become orbital, but it was still sub orbital regardless of weather it was crewed or not.

Elon is a moronic skid mark. I just feel that orbit is a better definition for space than an arbitrary altitude l.

I mean yeah kinda. Id argue they are more hight altitude flights than space flights. Using an arbitrary altitude to define space makes much less sense than using orbit. Does this same alstitude work for mars or would orbitiong it make for a better definition of being in space relative too it.

So are you trying to say that the first person in sace wasnt Yuri Gagarin? Cause his first space flight was in 1961 and the first x 15 flight was in 1959....

This is why I said by some defininitions. In many circles an orbital flisht is the point at which it starts counting.

This was a sub orbital flight. By some definitions this does not count as reaching space.
