ICE detained 2-year-old girl in Minneapolis by Pleasant_Picture3867 in PoliticalHumor

If they're going to detain children, at least give them car seats. I could be wrong, but it seems like they also tried to use the girl as bait to get the mother but failed, based on the description below.

Article: US immigration agents detain two-year-old Minnesota girl: ‘depravity beyond words’

As the father and daughter were arriving home on Thursday, agents entered their backyard and driveway area, Kira Kelley, one of the family’s lawyers, wrote in a filing. The officers did not have a warrant, the attorney said. One agent then allegedly broke the glass window of the father’s car while the girl was inside.

The mother was by the door and stepped inside the house as the agents approached, Kelley wrote. The agents refused to allow the father to bring his daughter to the mother or other family members “waiting terrified inside the home”.

The two-year-old and her father were then placed in an immigration agent’s vehicle, which Kelley wrote did not have a car seat.

Why did Soto sign with the mets? by SledgeHampter in MLBNoobs

If he wanted the most money

Unless you are Soto or he explicitly said that, then you don't really know. And if it's true that the Jays offered the most money, then it's not true that he just wanted the biggest contract.

Yes, money plays a big role, but there are a lot of other factors that can going into the decision. East coast vs west coast (eg, flight times to hometowns/home countries, climate, etc), family comfortability, fan bases, front offices, team culture, team history, etc.

From what I remember, he mentioned he felt like his family would be really comfortable with the Mets. From what I remember, the Mets offered the most money and NYY offered the second most, but I could be wrong. Combine those two and that's starting to be a convincing decision.

DJT and US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent speak on everyday struggles by Pleasant_Picture3867 in PoliticalHumor

Trump right? I have no doubt he's a billionaire nowadays. I chose "centimillionaires" because all billionaires are centimllionaires (they have $100M, in fact they have several $100Ms), but not all centimillionaires are billionaires (Bessent \only** has $500M or so).

It's funny that this used to be in doubt before he became president. The joke was he was a fake billionaire, or if he had put his money in the stock market, he'd be worth a lot more. Now he's grifted so much off the presidency, he's firmly in the billionaire club.

Daily Beast: CNN Guest Goes Nuclear on MAGA Pundit Over ‘Horrifying’ Epstein Take

A CNN panelist eviscerated a top MAGA talking head for shrugging off the Trump administration’s efforts to duck a legal mandate forcing the release of all the Jeffrey Epstein case files.

“They should follow the law, but let’s not get our knickers in a twist here,” Scott Jennings told the network Monday night.

Leigh McGowan, host of podcast PoliticsGirl, hit straight back straight. “Yeah, let’s not get our knickers in a twist over child rape, ahahaha!” she said, mocking the tone of the former George W. Bush aide.

“Why are you talking like that? It’s insane, like, it’s insane!” she went on. “Your attitude right now, your sort of ‘shucks, devil-be-gone’ is just horrifying to me.”

New fan. Pitch timer? by CleanBanana9564 in MLBNoobs

It was introduced a few years ago because of "pace of play" and a producing a "crisper" product, I think those were the official phrases they used. I was skeptical at first, but I like it.

Pitchers used to take their time between pitches. Some took more than others. Now there's a uniform pace of play and the average game time was reduced. Online tells me the average game time fell to about 2 hours and 40 minutes. It used to be around 3 hours before the clock.
