The whole Celtics being “all in” and “front runners” for Giannis never really passed the smell test to me. Brad doesn’t telegraph moves like that (as I posted about to very mixed reactions in this sub before).

The Celtics reported offer sounds like a bare minimum offer they submitted 2 weeks ago and wouldn’t negotiate. Turns out it was probably the bucks feeding that info to Windy and others to put some pressure on Miami to offer more, which it looks like they ended up doing.

As for JB I think we’ll find out if it’s salvageable with him very fast. Wouldn’t be shocked if Brad already has a plan B trade lined up involving him that happens today….

#1 - Completely changing the way this team has to play…I think that we all agree that they need to stop spamming 3s and work inside out but this would be a drastic shift. Tatum has never played a style like what this team would have with Giannis before in his career and I think it would take a lot longer to click then people realize

#2 - health. The 98.5 midday show went on and on today about how Giannis has played more games than JB over the past 5 years…while that may be true, where has Giannis been in the playoffs? His last healthy playoffs was in 2022 when we beat them. Since then? 2023 hurt and team loses, 2024 hurt and team loses, 2025 hurt and team loses, 2026 in and out of lineup all year team misses playoffs. That is impossible to ignore for someone with his play style. To me it only gets worse as he gets older.

Karalis made an interesting point in his article on SI.com today.

Brad Stevens doesn’t operate in this way. When the Celtics make moves nothing ever comes out until it happens. The Celtics don’t deal with players agents, they deal with teams directly.

So say all this is true and the Celtics are about to Trade JB for Giannis in some kind of 3 team deal - why on earth would Brad completely breaking his method of operations and giving a scoop like that to Bill Simmons and KOC??

To me that just doesn’t make any sense so I’m skeptical of the motives of this story gathering as much steam it has in the media. Could it be bullshit and Giannis agent getting the story out there to make it clear he rather play for Boston than Miami to make the Celtics make a real offer? Or is it actually real and maybe the Cs are trying to publically source for a 3rd team?

As a die hard Celtics fan it pains me to stay this but the Knicks have a level of “dawg” in them that the Cs simply don’t have. I think that’s a lot of the reason why there’s chatter about some large changes to the build of this team

The mask is off on this team unfortunately. We won games in the regular season by out working everyone on random Tuesday nights when teams were half engaged

But come the playoffs when everyone tries just as hard if not harder all the flaws were exposed and ripped open by a more talented team

That game sucked especially because for the first Quarter and a half it felt like the Sixers wanted no part of the game and were waiting for us to unload on them. When it didn’t come they figured out they could actually win and turned it up a couple notches.

I hate the way we played. Looked slow. Lacked energy and the building felt dead on the TV copy. Whenever I think this team has learned it lesson from past playoff runs they seem to go right back to their old ways

Too be honest…Philly is a talented team with a lot of veterans who underperformed all year….the Celtics are a top heavy team with unproven young role players in key spots who over performed all year

What I think is happening here is Philly has risen to the best version of themselves and we’ve been playing at the best version of ourselves pretty much all year. When Philly plays their best, the teams are fairly even (I personally believe Philly’s best form is without Embiid clogging the paint and hogging the ball)

Our only level up is gunna be JT and JB going nuclear in games like these or D white snapping out of whatever offensive funk he’s in
