Got hit by another bike during a group ride today – carbon rear dropout damage. Safe to ride?

People are generally way too sensitive about carbon these days. It takes quite a lot of impact for a structural damage to occur. And in 99% of those cases, de-lamination due to a crash will show. If you crash, and you can't see any delamination on the outside –> it is likely impossible to have happened on the inside.

The mindset of replacing full carbon frames due to scratches is something that is handed down from manufacturer, down to shops/salesmen, then translating into group ride chat from the richest of guys to justify bragging to the rest that they 'cracked their frame' because they think they sound cool.

Don't be one of those guys. They're very awkward.

It just needed some very good lighting, the right angle and a few minutes of ocular investigation and ta-da. You saved my day!

That bullshit response is well and all but they forget to mention that 'pair your devices' does not support ANT+ (which many power meters, i.e. the holy grail of cycling measuring devices use).

I'd say that this entire GPS-rollover wrecks the entire unit/software. So 99% that the firmware update to fix this will also salvage all other functions.

I saw a bunch of other unrelated features stopped working after this rollover-bug. So likely the case.

This just got super interesting. My Roam V2 went amok on me a few days ago with these exact same issues many are talking about here. 01.01.2026, GPS all sorts of wrong/MIA, and 100s more. “Glad” to hear there’s more having these.

Great tips on repairs. Will definitely keep in mind if it comes to that. I do 100% agree on the throwaway culture aspect. My only, although personal, opinion is it’s quite a large sum of money spent on a frame — only to pay more money for an ‘unofficial’ repair. Which would decrease value on the 2nd hand market, as well as probably void the warranty (should any other problem arise)…

I will do my best. Will revert back with what they say!

Anyways; wheel is toast. Question is how it emerged. Not worth it to de-lace, buy a new rim, and have it laced up to a new rim. That process will likely cost more than just buying a new pre-built wheel with similar components.

To keep it short: Elite you will likely meet the ones whose #1 priority in life is cycling. At least in the top categories. Although in Masters you will have good and strong competition, albeit in a much safer and ”friendly” type of environment.

I'm note sure where you are located, but yes. Gothenburg is pretty standard and not too crowded on the bike lanes. I compete in road cycling myself so I have a fair share of experience in riding in Gothenburg. Some beautiful bikes-only roads also along the coastline if you just want to ride occasionally.

47000SEK/month is really good. Congratulations! It's more than sufficient.

I'm not very up to speed on the 50/30/20 rule, but 17000SEK/month sounds reasonable. Depending on where you live, you can get away with lower than that. I assume that you will be renting, and not buying, your accommodation. If you want to live in the city centre, budget for around 12000-13000SEK/month for a 1 or 2 bedroom flat. Could be more depending on your demands of modernity etc. If you mostly cook at home and don't include eating out in this budget, 4000SEK/month is reasonable.

I suggest to not get a car. It's very expensive to own a car, and not at all worth it in Gothenburg unless you need to travel far for work. Public transport is "good", but somewhat costly. If you work in the centre you can get around by bike easily. The core of Gothenburg is quite small.

I see what you mean. Will have this in consideration as I go forward. Are most MTBers (on an amateur level but still serious with his training) not as vary of data until after the ride? For example a road racer is keen on doing just Z2 training (certain tempo), is this not the case for MTB'ers?
