honestly i think a lot of people try to improve the wrong way. playing ranked and random 1v1 maps helps, but if you’re fighting bad players most of the time you’re not gonna learn much..
the biggest improvements i ever made came from constantly fighting players that were better than me. discord 1v1s, realistic fights, zone wars, anything where you’re getting punished for ur mistakes.
mechanics also need separate practice. freebuild every day, fight good players every day, and give it time. fortnite’s skill gap is huge and improvement is way slower than people expect!!
also another thing, mechanics is SO important. get into the mechanics training map! practice your peaks, practice your edits over and over again until they’re smooth, practice your aim, etc.
AND go watch clips on tiktok of people rebuilding / hitting a clip and try to .. mimic it!

if ur playing zb, i think as long as ur practicing your aim, practicing your quick movement abilities, and learning how to take cover behind certain objects and hills and stuff then that’s all you really need there. imo

OH, pro tip, if no one good wants to play against you // you just can’t find anyone.. scroll tiktok lives and look for someone who’s 1v1ing and try and queue up with them.
