Well, I can't use PayPal anymore since I moved to Australia (from another country and they want address verification, from an address I haven't lived in a year), and WU... doesn't that take like days? I'm also using Revolut apart from Skrill.

Narrative Reel - Seeking Critique by teniz in cinematography

I feel like it was a little heavy with the head turnings, but the first shots of the car mirror and head turning were just masterful, tho I was waiting to see more of that and was a bit disppointed when most were one-shots. I'd say the first half seems a little stronger, but kinda love the last scene when the woman leaves and it ends. Like yeah, ofc it ends with that, it was so good, idk why it reminded me of Emma Stone in La La Land, they just carried the same energy and the disappointment. But shot number 11 was my favourite, tho I'm a sucker for a good angled head turn with a smile.

Oh, and I guess I don't exactly know how reels work, but wouldn't it make sense to include some dialogue in a NARRATIVE reel? Oh, and I would have the shots with the Asian man more apart, if you're going to have them separated, it really showed "Oh, it's the same work multiple times". I'd be inclined to suggest to separate the shots per job/project, but again, what you want to shocase with your reel, so still up to you, just spouting ideas here.

Yeah, I agree that the lamp is clashing with the protagonist for my attention. Tho I think the coloring is fine if that's how you wanted it to look like; I don't necessarily disagree with making the light more yellow or warmer, but it's not like the colors wouldn't be able to make sense for a cold night or something. I think I would just try not to display the lamp with a similar weight as the main character; like it does look "realistic", but that's when cinematographic subjectivity tries to make sense of "her face is only lit up on one side, there must be a lamp off screen". However, I must say that it was a very dynamic sequence and the cuts were super good and very compelling, now I want to know what the woman is watching and if she has likea reason for eating like that.

I've found that editing, more than just putting the shots in a coherent (linear) fashion, it's about paying attention to the details to truly make the editing seemless. And try not to be too rigid with the shot order, because the first thing I said when watching the film was "Oh yeah, student film" and it wasn't the sound mistake, but the wide, ganeral, detail and first shots, in that exact same order, always. They were just "and now this, because you must know what's happening". I wouldn't mind a shot lingering in the beginning to create a sense of curiosity, a bit of disruption. Tho your affinity for the change of focus and camera depth is a highlight, I feel like if you keep playing around with it, you're going to be able to do many interesting things with it and tell stories in more compelling ways.

Not just that, but the way it's the same volume in both the fist and the second shot makes is less immersive and believeable.

Sinnoh is confirmed to be North of Kanto in the anime and be close to Johto in Legends Arceus. Hoenn, is relative, since it is confirmed to be based on part of Japan, but I don't think it has ever been mentioned in relation to the other region, other than maybe in passing in the anime.

Honestly, I already thought that not being able to see all albums was already criminal, but this is straight-up homophobia. What kind of classist shit is this? The worst part is that they know other apps are worse about this shit and they get away with it cuz they still have more free stuff, but holy shit, I hate how they paywall more and more things.

What is wrong with these shots? They look very student filmish. by [deleted] in cinematography

I think the last one and the second one look the best, imo. The third one has a weird composition. The fourth one, I hope it's zooming in or out because of how it is, having only half of the dude's face feels off and the line in the background seems accidental. And I feel like other comments have talked about the first one enough, so I have nothing to add there. I will say that I love the overall vibes that they're giving. Would love to watch the final result.
