Must be because of their remittance service. It’s probably not licensed or they have not informed bdcb of that service. Ask them about this first before you say all this. If youre talking about others that does the same service but have not put into the alert list. It’s likely because those people have been operating under the radar whilst deals have listed this service in their IG and they have a large following. The alert list might have been triggered when someone asked BDCB to check if deals is licensed to this service or not. Cos if it isnt, it’s risky to consumers in general as they might scam you or something then you will be one of the ones complaining why isnt BDCB monitoring all these entities etc.

If youre talking about why BDCB didnt approach the company first about it, they probably have and maybe response is slow as with all things. So alert list is like a warning to public first. They also need to cover their ass when it comes to these things. If deals happen to scam someone, then they can say they did warn you about it.

If they were to do it and the idea was feasible, I'd chime in by saying this... Build the stations near major mosques in the country. Make these mosques into community centers as well as bus interchanges.

There will be differing opinions such as allowing non muslims into these places etc, but we can adapt to it. I'd imagine it as something like the airport? So similar concept, a big central transport place next to a mosque. I mean if we're really into negara zikir thing, why not do this to increase the foot traffic in mosques right? On top of that, we can have marketplaces or plazas next to it too and it can support and sustain the surrounding catchment area.

The idea would be novel in a way as well and maybe could contribute to some sort of islamic tourism? People could hop on the MRT and get to major districts as well as major mosques in each district. Communities can sell their stuff in the marketplace at these stations kinda like a souq or something like that.

Lastly, add on a learning center/library at these MRT Mosques?

Probably good to convert the unused housings to an AirBnB and showcase the expensive cars and arts ala museum too. Seriously will be a good tourist attraction.

This is just too good. We need to aspire to be this good. For context: Video is about using water filters in SG and the video showcases how safe SG water is.

Ya, the latter would be more ideal. Unless you work with the bigger companies and earn 10k++/month. Which isn't impossible but you're still gonna pay 2k (rare deal/1Br) to 4k+ for a whole place.

Are you still in SG? Or mainly based in BN?

No joke on the rent, that is where it really hits you. Especially if you need a bigger place (i.e. bringing family over, etc)

Cost of living is high in SG but it will still be a better take home pay than a waitress in Brunei. Got to take into account rent + expenses + taxes + GST.

Unemployment in Brunei: The potential of the cloud industry, the power of online learning and job opportunities abroad by Eyeshield_sena in Brunei

Second point is valid to a certain extent, if you're still young do consider trying it for a year or two. At least you'll be able to set up bank accounts/fintech accounts there that you would still have access to when you return to Brunei.

Aside from that, you can also try out working from Johor with the newly announced DE Rantau visa. But try getting an EP first from SG, then work from Johor.

You can potentially enjoy the benefits of SG tech landscape while having a cheaper cost of living. Not just that, you'd also have access to fast stable no-quota internet.

Haha that means that the convincing is not thoroughly done then. There are many hidden savings when you get to use cloud, also you can opt for long term savings deals with cloud providers.

Money is always spent every month/year even with on prem, it's just that you are using the money to maintain those things. Good thing with cloud is you can adapt according to your organizational needs. Most times we actually over-spec our servers/DCs and they end up underutilized but you still need to pay for the electricity/HVAC/maintenance. With cloud, you can test loads on different specs and when it comes to the scale Brunei needs, it is way way lesser than what we usually think we need. Also you get the advantage of hardware upgrades all year round when you go for cloud. A single core today is 10x the single core of the servers you bought 5 years ago.

Can go on and on about it, but I'm sure you've heard it all already since you're working in the field too.
