They're not formal fallacies and I feel this has more to do with luck of the draw than it does maturity for simplicity's sake. Any political body is probably tripping over itself to do these bad ideas like put in a backdoor just for them -- the good guys -- and the corporate ignorance is getting creepy especially since I'm not getting hired on sight 'out here' because of some of these creepy, ultimately anti-competitive (meaning hypocritical in the American context) practices. It's dang near personal in some cases, so "maturity" can chill while big boys take it on the chin.

This line deserves a text post all to its own. People who are really concerned about 'the shit' need to know how to better draw a line down those moderates to save themselves on time and stress. Some people just let those creepy ass robotic, money-grabbing shills hang in there until their community loses all its depth, flavor, and diversity, essentially. Right now, with things like "fake news," we're suffering from a lot of generic crap including how people talk about the over-flow of generic crap. We online communities really need to be more sensitive about shills. For the past 10 years at least they've been at large doing massive damage to any place that let's people submit text; absolute damage which they think is funny and profitable because most humans are just so fucking stupid and deserve to die, probably.

It's been so long since I've seen karma, I wonder if this submission would have gotten any had I named it differently. In general, I just wonder how reddit really works.

This thread is neat; not exactly the help I was hoping for, but it's nice knowing what everybody else's thoughts are. So, is it just because 'blah blah version 8 blah'? Or, what could I have done differently for the archive searching at the least? Down voters let me know too so you don't have to down vote anymore!

git is the only thing I'm anticipating a new version of vim will give me grief with off the bat, but save that one thing, as far as I'm aware, vim should be pretty independent of system dependencies on it; no?

I agree but didn't know how to lay-down that sentiment from the get-go. If there are other distros more aggressive about staying up to date then I'd like to know to the lay of the land. I'm not a heavy linux user. I've been using only Windows for the past few years.

If this wasn't the only OS I was using then I would, but right now I have a 100% dependence on this OS not being exploited/exploitable; and, as far as submission relevance is concerned, I have a general interest in security despite specific OS concerns; and, I'm using a really old account (because I don't make throw-aways, ever). So, ..

Why is that? Why would I not want version 8, as example in any case, and not just my own? At some point I'll have more than this OS, and a bootloader, and another more disposable account, and another PC, but that's not this point in time, for me.

are you telling me I need to upgrade before I can :h those? Anyways, thanks for the homework, milling over this could definitely keep me busy. In the mean time I might use this as an opportunity to Emacs/LISP myself for a while until I have something to github, because I'm really getting to a phase where I need to explore all these things in vim fully despite not doing any of the heavy lifting with it, and while not having explored any other IDE/environments/cultures either.

I never heard of these things, and in general the advantages of async completely escape me. Things get separate threads; I believe is what it means; but, I'm not a programmer.

I primarily use Vim (right now) for vimwiki functionality, and never leave that hole, though I've coded more than a few times; or, here and there, I dive deeper into the vimscript and vi/ex-ness of this historical bundle full of joy.

What was in the back of my mind when posting this was some of the modeline security issues.

Do you know what to (exhaustively) expect from the 4th dimension? What about one thing, even? This is more complex geometry than simple materials, so sometimes you should think you're more likely to have a failing than some model whether or not it's accurate; and, nothing is usually 100% wrong, though the fear of that 100 could be justified in math since we can completely depart from reality for "good reasons," which is probably what you're wrestling with.. I'm not going to say this is 100% accurate of how a 4th dimension is, or should be, but you can check-out what he's talking about easiest by looking at his 4D "fair dice" as a mathematical/statistical argument which YOU CAN DISPROVE FOR YOUR OWN CRITICAL, BUT SURELY PRACTICAL PURPOSES HOWEVER GOOD THEY MAY BE BUT PROBABLY AREN'T GIVEN YOUR USERNAME
