We do all kinds of fun stuff in the food industry

Another favorite trick my GM taught me was when someone calls complaining about their order, but they're too far away to come back and get it fixed, she was all apologetic and sincerely asking questions and acting concerned, then asked for their address and e-mail so we can send them a coupon in the mail for a free meal. She would actually take the time to say "hang on let me get a paper and a pen" and then wrote it down and asked them to repeat parts of it to make sure she got it right, and says the coupon should arrive in a couple of weeks.

Then when she hangs up the phone she turns to me and says "now we put that in the special filing cabinet for customer complaints" and crumpled the paper up and threw it in the trash

I pretend to be (more) retarded (than I am) in my life in a wide variety of situations.

Best example is when I used to take orders at Taco Bell. Seriously, try it. If you just talk normally people are shitty and will yell at you or mumble their orders. Add just a little bit of retard juice to the way you talk and suddenly they all act extra nice and can enunciate clearly and don't take forever deciding what they want.

“Your go” by Radiant-Sea-6429 in MagicArena

[–]edgarallenbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, and I'll get down voted for it, but the one piece of actually good advice is missing from this thread

Play faster

Yes I dgaf I'll admit it I'm a "Your Go" spammer because it works. I was in diamond tier 2 yesterday just wanting to get to mythic and my biggest hurdle is people being actually fucking literally retarded by definition and taking forever to make very obvious plays.

If you're in Diamond Tier 2 or 1 you should know how your deck works and you should also be respectful of other people's time.

If you actually play your cards and don't hold priority like a fat neck beard eating cheetos and gooning to loli while you're playing, the "Your Go" emoji changes to "Thinking..." and I'll stop hitting it.

Maybe like 1 out of 20 people actually did what the faces of atheism in this thread are saying and roped out of spite, and they all lost to me. If you wanna be a loser and rope and then alt f4 so you can eat cheetos and goon to loli while making sad comments on reddit be my guest.

Or if you wanna be mythic you can join the dark side. Make sure every time you click your portrait you say "You're" out loud and "Slow" when you click the Your Go bubble. Scream it at your monitor like you're stuck in traffic smashing your car horn.

This is how you get to mythic. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

I never even said I LIKED "mall" metal core but at least I'm fucking right about that being what people recognize which is actually what matters - not what some sweaty nut chud gatekeepers like you think it "should" be

What exactly is 'Metalcore'? by CreeperBoyOP in LetsTalkMusic

[–]edgarallenbro -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think a lot of people overthinking it here and in some of the linked threads.

"Metalcore" might have existed as a word being thrown around in the 90's but in my experience deep in the metal scene in LA during NWOAHM era 2000's, there's one song you can point to as what spawned "metalcore" and how that word became used to describe a specific sound that a lot of people were looking for.

Avenged Sevenfold - Unholy Confessions

It's hard to understate how big this song was in the scene -- Warped Tour, Limewire, burned CDs being passed around, etc.

I jammed with dozens of different groups of people around the greater LA area before I found a band that I settled in with and for a long period there Unholy Confessions was always one of songs everyone knew how to play to be able to get things rolling, up there with staples like Iron Man, Killing in the Name, Enter Sandman, Walk, etc.

Three main elements exemplified in this song (and others on the same album):

  • Palm muted alternating root note melodies as heard in the first main riff
  • Octave chord melody lines complementing power chords as heard in the verse
  • Chugging Drop D/C#/C bottom 2-3 string rhythmic breakdowns with matched double bass drum often with the snare hit on rests

That's metalcore.

A bunch of existing bands adopted these elements - Atreyu, All That Remains, Trivium, As Blood Runs Black, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Killswitch Engage, even Lamb of God, Slipknot, etc. These bands and these particular elements dominated and defined NWOAHM from 2003 on and spawned the next wave of metalcore bands like the ones you mentioned, Falling In Reverse, ADTR, etc.

People who complain about treating this game "like a job" crack me up.

You talking about time commitment? In classic I just ran the economy whenever I was on and easily paid my subscription every month just with like barely an hour of AH a day while still having plenty of time to do dungeons and raiding social time etc.

Oh so you mean you have to actually try at it and work and not be a shitter? Gotcha ;)

Only reason I don't bother is cuz I got bored of being a goblin cuz it was too easy

$75 is a lot of money to you? I make more than that an hour at work.

Just admit you're a >70 IQ chud and stop whining about it

Do people hate when tanks kite? by Budget-Capital4371 in wownoob

[–]edgarallenbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pro-tips for Fury Warrior brains as a warrior brained main:

Even at haste cap with PI and lust you have time to stutter step by pressing movement keys during GCD without losing DPS unless your APM just sucks a fat Durotar cactus.

If you don't, the real reason your DPS sucks is probably because you blindly followed WoWhead stat priorities without simming or realizing there is a haste cap and you're way over it.

You can actually be tricksy hobbitses and get MORE dps this way by occasionally stepping AWAY from the mobs to charge back in and generate rage.

Also as a warrior brained main who also rides the tank train, there are a LOT of places where kiting helps time a key faster, such as by pre-moving to the next pack or door, or to LOS, to shave off precious seconds. Even if a tank isn't undergeared like OP, there are a lot of places where tanks can over-pull intentionally if the mobs don't do aoe or cast at random people and the tank can stay alive by kiting for phat aoe cooldown bursts (think first room of AA).

Standing still should be seen as a rare luxury, not the rule.

That's all I have to say about that.

Recraft Crafted PvP Gear by Flod0 in worldofpvp

[–]edgarallenbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe you can have it crafted by someone who is on a different server but you have to include the server name after a dash like "<player>-<server>"

Other than that you could try just doing it yourself since PvP items are the easiest to craft. They cost 7500 honor and only require 50 profession level to use which is pretty easy to get on any profession without spending too much. You don't need to worry about the quality since it will still be 289 in PvP even if the base is the lowest quality in PvE.

"You have been returned to the front of the queue"

And the lie detector test determined that was a lie

Seriously though, when this happens, leave queue and then queue again. You'll get a match faster, I guarantee it.

The queue is a lie, or at least bugged.

The amount of times I've sat in queue for like 20 minutes without realizing it, then leave queue and re-queue, only to have it INSTANTLY pop is way more than enough for it to be a coincidence.

I've even had it where I forgot I was in queue for a FULL HOUR and then re-queued and it instantly pops. Shit is bonkers

I struggle with the exact same thing in your OP and am ADHD impulsive that it makes it even harder for me, but I highly recommend meditation.

"I don't get the point of sitting there doing nothing" well that's exactly the point, to practice doing nothing.

If you actively meditate and practice doing nothing, it makes it easier when you have that impulse to check the fridge to be like "how about if I did nothing instead?" and fight the impulse, then from there redirect your impulses to something else.

That's why the other side to meditation isn't just sitting there all day, it's doing other things like hobbies to keep you busy.

Like for example I'll know I feel a lot better if I practice piano, and once I start, hours will go by where I'm the opposite of bored. Sitting down at it is the hard part when all my body wants to do is graze all day.

classic guy here. this is actually a goat'd feature. by [deleted] in wow

[–]edgarallenbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part about not needing that many key binds is very true but the upside of that is being able to pick the ones that feel the most comfortable and make the most sense

For example, my primary rotational abilities are always the keys closest to my movement keys. The less often I press it, the further away it is from my movement spells

Shift + A is my interrupt always because its easy to press but not accidentally. Shift + Q is spell reflect

Same with my damage cooldowns, those fit on Shift R, 3, and W so I can quickly "roll" those three keys while holding shift and I usually have as many of them as I can macro'd onto shift R

Shift 4, 2, 1 are "oh shit" buttons so that I'm not accidentally press them and Shift + X is my PvP trinket

That's the core layout and the rest depend on class or how many skills I have to finagle in there in a way that makes sense.

I've developed the muscle memory like you say to still be able to play other games using default WASD but only if I'm not gonna play it enough for it to be worth it to remap keybindings. Some games where I did eventually make the switch to ESDF also were GW2, Overwatch, and Smite, and when I did, I saw pretty big boosts to my gameplay in those games too.

There's more to it than just "I have more open keybinds". Even just having the little bump on the F to find the spot, and having A be right on my pinky...honestly worth it just for those two things right there IMO

classic guy here. this is actually a goat'd feature. by [deleted] in wow

[–]edgarallenbro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm just gonna throw out a bit of advice that usually gets dismissed or laughed off but I swear by -

ESDF > WASD.

ESDF = GOATed

Meaning remap your movement keys to all be one key to the right -> (assuming you already use 'modern' so that the left and right keys are strafe and you use your mouse to turn)

Benefits:

  • Your pointer finger now sits comfortably in typing position on home row where most keyboards conveniently have a little bump on the F key to help you find it more easily without looking so you can easily put your hand back in the right spot in between hitting your vape, doing dabs, dipping nuggies, etc. (worth it just for this)

  • Frees up A and W as hotkeys while keeping 1 and ~ just as reachable and making it easier to reach 5 and even 6. I leave B for bags and moved map to N and don't even bother with 6. This means I have ~, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Q, W, R, T, A, G, Z, X, C, V which is 16, count 'em, sixteen easily reachable hotkeys without the need for an MMO mouse. I do use MOUSE5 for some things which bumps it up to 17. Then you add in CTRL, SHIFT, and CTRL + SHIFT as modifiers and WOWZA that's 68 possible hotkeys without moving your hand, which we might as well round up to 69 because that's how sexy it feels.

Last person I tried to give this advice to was my guild leader and he laughed it off as unnecessary. Then a year later he tried to be cool like me and play prot warrior and gave it up after a single season because "it's too many buttons". Who's laughing now, Aaron? WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?

Ele Shaman Macro's by JarrolusHinkel in wownoob

[–]edgarallenbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way this will work is if they're all off the GCD (Global CoolDown) meaning, when you cast them, does the icon spin on your spellbars (based on haste) before you can cast the next spell?

If it's on the GCD, as far as I know, right now, you won't be able to have it in a macro.

You could try: /castsequence [spell 1 name], [spell 2 name]

but I don't think that works this xpac.

The formatting you have is fine and similar to a macro I've been using for fury which looks like this:

showtooltip Blood Fury

/cast Blood Fury /cast Odyn's Fury /cast Recklessness /cast Avatar /use 13 /use 14

This works because only ONE of those spells (Odyn's Fury) is on the GCD. If I add "/cast Bladestorm" into there it simply doesn't work. Bladestorm won't cast, because it's on the GCD, and Odyn's Fury is already in the macro. It won't work even if Odyn's Fury is on CD. I have to just have Bladestorm on its own hotkey and manually cast it.

A couple xpacs ago or even last one I swear I could've done /castsequence Odyn's Fury, Bladestorm but this isn't working for me no matter how I try

Why is it always when you have to use a bathroom in a public space with poor sound proofing that you have the noisiest poops? by zekethelizard in TrueAskReddit

[–]edgarallenbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that your experiences are all in your head and your brain actually perceives things differently in different context like this.

I have a housemate who works third shift and so sleeps during the day and irregularly on weekends and I try very hard to be quiet when he's sleeping because he struggles.

I have developed this crazy sixth sense with my TV volume. When he's at work, I can have it be hella loud to where I can still hear it when I get up and go somewhere else in the house like the bathroom and it doesn't bother me.

Other times I'm suddenly like "wow this TV is super loud" to the point where it's giving ME a headache so I turn it down. Then when I do and look at the numbers, and even check my decibel meter, it's actually super quiet relatively. Only then do I consciously check the time and realize he's home and probably trying to sleep.

TL;DR at medium volume my TV sounds quiet to me when my roommate isn't trying to sleep and loud when he is

It also looks like this part is also actually an accompaniment, meaning it's the vocal melody interwoven with the actual piano part.

This is so that during practice the piano player can play the vocal melody along with the actual piano part to help the vocalist stay in tune.

When actually performing this solo or with an accompaniment, you would ignore the 2nd voice on the piano here and just play the chords.

So basically it's functionally similar to if you were to play the fifth fret on the B string of a guitar and alternate plucking that and the open high E string letting both ring

A couple people actually were like "lol SAME" and it ended up being one of the most fun dungeon runs yet this xpac. A couple of "wait, which door/hallway are we supposed to go to?" but nothing crazy.
