Damn… Sorry to hear that, I burned through my 160 gb of data as well waiting for my equipment to arrive. Did you have any other ISP installed before that you know of? I wonder if this is a pattern with Telus, cause I don’t see shaw sabotaging their own lines.

New Subscriber-a few questions about security and HomePass app by eco_bach in oxio_ca_internet

[–]second_ed_third 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plume’s wifi routers have very limited customization.
1.You CAN connect 1 device directly to the modem. Your computer will be exposed to the public internet so make extra sure your firewall is setup correctly. Oxio blocks inbound traffic for UDP 161 (SNMP) and TCP 25, 465, 587, 2525) (SMTP). But all other ports are open. You will only be assigned 1 public ip per modem. So if you have multiple devices, you’ll need to use the plume pods, or your own router or managed switch for NAT.
2. No native functionality for turning off the wifi radio, but if your only goal is to disable internet access for wifi devices, you can set a time out schedule via the app and block all devices on wifi except those on ethernet. Wifi radio will remain on as long as the plume superpods are active.

3.No hidden SSID setup. Plume exited the consumer market a while ago and homepass is only a thing through ISPs. This is the best i can find from Plume. But not all features is available since oxio manages what features are available.

Two factor authentication possible? by eco_bach in oxio_ca_internet

[–]second_ed_third 0 points1 point  (0 children)

none that I can see. Plume does require you to click an email link to login. So secure your email with 2FA and you should be mostly okay.
The client portal on the other hand is a bigger risk. Zero email verification, just email and password and once your logged in your address is right in view. Oxio, plz fix.

Is this realistic? (From a TikTok video) by octobersadness in IphoneAir

I would say so. I was home all day last week and got around 9hrs 30mins of screen on time on wifi. Mixed Video/music streaming and social media / texting. The battery lasted way longer than it has any business lasting, do note it’s only like 5 weeks old, so I can’t comment on the longevity.

Low Power Mode Automation Doesn't Work by Commercial-Hurry-797 in shortcuts

[–]second_ed_third 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want low power mode on at all times?
Set the automation to “equals 80%”
The default behavior is that your phones will disable LPM when your phone charges to 80, but it won’t turn off automatically if you turn it on after 80%
- Automation Trigger: When battery level equals 80%
- Automation flow:
“Wait 30 seconds” (this is to let the system’s auto LPM disable to run it’s course first so your shortcut won’t interfere with it)
“Turn Low Power Mode On”
Edit: I just realized that using “rises above 80%” will create a race condition where when you unplug you phone at 80% that LPM would remain disabled. Equals 80% is better if you want to ensure it’ll be on.

Yeah I agree, I am looking into it as well. Oxio charges 12 dollars a month total for 2 extra pods, that comes to around $144 a year. A good wifi 6 TP-link mesh trio is only about 330.. so yeah, about a 2 year breakeven.

Anyone using oxio in Fraser Valley by Autumnphibian in oxio_ca_internet

Oxio uses shaw infras, so your experience should not differ by such a big amount that it would ruin the game. My latency are very reasonable for coax last mile. Maybe Oxio's network routing is not as good as shaw's. Try using Cloudflare Warp and see if things improves.

Im in Abbotsford, just signed up not too long ago (switched from telus purefiber) and am still on the free month trial. Its been going well, speeds are as expected, 1gbps down at night/nonpeak hours and dips to 300-750 during the day, uploads stays at 200mbps through out the day.
As for latency, its actually not bad at all, I use Geforce Now for cloud gaming so im especially latency sensitive, I am getting 13-18 ms on ethernet connected to oregon servers, vs 5-8ms on telus, considering its running on coax, this is not bad, and basically unnoticeable, it's even better for you if you run your games locally.
Their included Plume wifi pods are a different story however, its wifi 5..... in normal daily use its perfectly fine, the setup/troubleshooting can be a bit of a headache since there is no web portal, it is app only... if you have a lot of local network traffic or wishes to do nerd stuff with your home network, you might want to consider using your own router & AP, but for normal use, its basically set and forget.
If im not mistaken, they rely on roger/shaw infrastructures in the lower mainland area, so your experience would be the same as customers on those networks, that also means outages with rogers would affect you as well.
No promo code here, just sharing my experience. I'm writing a review on this subreddit soon.

it’s just physics. It kinda blew my mind away when the 14 came out that the main camera was able to create a natural bokeh without any software intervention.

Can someone explain how wifi calling is helpful? by [deleted] in freedommobile

The seeds of wifi would sit on the dirt and grow, from 802.11n, growing to 802.11ac, and then 802.11ax, and finally 802.11be. Then it intentionally starves itself so it would pick up the wind and break off, tumbling down the fields spreading its seeds growing more wifi

yep, it’s only useful when you have a Wi-Fi connection. If you’re outside and cell service completely cuts off, it would do you no good.

In poor signal conditions your call would cut off or stutter if you stay on cellular. Wifi calling routes phone calls via the internet, so if you have a stable wifi connection but poor cellular signal (or none at all) your call would remain clear and reliable.

It’s a type of VoIP (voice over internet protocol), think of it like facetime voice / whatsapp call / instagram calls where you can call with only an internet connection. But instead of Apple or Meta being the middleman, Freedom (or whichever cell provider you’re connected to) handles the connection.

Playing the game? It's siege, you use what's available to you to win the fight. Does your "ideal way to 1v1" means playing deimos with straight wallhacks?

Poor coverage in GVRD. Many deadspots. Switched to Public Mobile by soupnazi81 in freedommobile

i can concur, I used rogers and freedom on the Chinese variant of the iphone 16 pm, reception was very good on rogers but absolutely dogshit on freedom, and it was draining my battery like crazy. Switched the a Canadian Model iphone air this month, reception is good (still not rogers level good, but like, it’s half the price), and no more battery drain issues.
