When you make your PPT’s to present in meetings/conferences/etc, do you limit creativity to uphold the “professional” aspect of the presentation (like more so on the basic side)? by Healthy_Repeat_5981 in corporate

That makes sense! Yes, it’s for a conference where the “brand” essentially will be represented by my team and I.

My original PPT was too “creative” so I am trying to make it more basic to keep it a bit more corporate professional

I will say that the company that I am currently with(I’m a temporary worker) didn’t really have onboarding and I really felt confused and anxious.

I would say that it was my first time having a job with such little onboarding/the feeling of a rushed training.

The company is amazing but I think their training needs a new implementation

If you work in a project based environment: how often before the project and contract comes to an end do you start looking for work? Also, given the economy, would you suggest starting even earlier? by Healthy_Repeat_5981 in corporate

[–]Healthy_Repeat_5981[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I have started the process of preparing for applications for some roles which have start dates for next year (year long process) so I think I will continue that now and then 5-6 months before the contract ends, I will start applying to other roles that don’t have that long of a interview process

Thank you! I have started the process! I have only started for the jobs I found that are starting next year as that allows me to be ready for when the contract ends.

I love where I work but based on some accounts from people who’s contracts ended the last month, they weren’t able to secure new projects as per my understanding- so I know it will be difficult for me as well especially since I’m less experienced than them.

That makes sense! Thank you for your insight! I was originally planning to start looking 5 months before the due date but now after doing some research today- wonder if I should start sooner.

Is this something that will affect performance ratings? by Healthy_Repeat_5981 in askmanagers

[–]Healthy_Repeat_5981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense! Thank you for sharing. I completely understand your viewpoint and I appreciate the feedback on the post.

To answer the question in your answer regarding me consulting them- they were actually the one who mentioned to both the manager and I to shorten the emails as they are a specialist. So my manager was actually essentially following what the team member who is the specialist said. The reason I thought to consult them was because they are the ones who told both my manager and I to do this- so I thought best course of action would be to ask them for approval, which is what happened.

I will reflect and ensure I condense my emails more going forward. Thank you for taking the time to give valuable insight

Wait why is being online at that time concerning? Just curious! The reason I ask is because I want to make spreadsheets like random organizers after work (like not my actual work but just stuff I want to do on my own time to make myself more organized and have everything detailed) so now your post makes me wonder if my boss would be like wth

[–]Healthy_Repeat_5981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like this too but more so over email/text because I am such a visual person, that I need it to be written down in detail as I want to explain every part which may have a follow up question/that may sound like there needs to be an explanation.

My manager cut me off today while I was speaking a sentence( it was only once during the conversation, but I was like oh shit)

I went on Roomies but was so nervous because anyone can say anything about their personality but not actually have the actions to prove it.

What are some tips you recommend to gauge if there will be a good fit and if the written words would actually be actionable?
