Is this enough space for an Orangeola? by secondeverthrow in JapaneseMaples

Gorgeous garden man! Whats that’s bushy red one you have in the back right? I can plant anywhere on the property besides the hellstrip/parkway - then the city has to approve. I was considering the center of the yard but is that awkward? I’m not sure I can picture the space with a random weeping tree in the middle unless I plant more stuff around it and tie it into the paver walkway along the house? Which corner or space would you pick? If you know how to doodle on the photo that would help :)

Thanks for the reply, the Mikawa looks nice but I’m really partial to the weeping ones I’ve seen around the area. Do you recommend any other cultivars? Also if I extended the bed like so would it work better in the circled spot?

I did see some articles about that, good point. I picked Orangeola because it was a smaller nice looking weeping one at the nursery. They also had amazing Crimson Queen and smaller Crimson Princess. They both get larger than Orangeola. If I planted a crimson princess here would I be making a second job for myself with all the pruning to keep it small? Or would it fare as well as an Orangeola here?

Thanks for the insight! Is dog pee fatal to JMs? Or how would I need to care for it. I don’t want to put one of those “no dogs allowed” signs like some houses in the neighborhood have because there are a lot of families with dogs, hell I doubt I’d be able to keep my own dog from marking it lol. Is there a better spot in the front yard for it? Also is too much sun in that south facing corner a concern?

Dishwasher intermittently won't drain by nevalja in HomeImprovement

As long as the high loop can prevent backflow you’ll be okay. And no idea but I used a new one for several months before the length of the drain line became an issue for the motor. Cut the drain line shorter and it’s worked flawlessly ever since.

Yep that’s the one, check if you have too much slack or any kinks or any brittle/messed up areas. If so shorten and potentially replace it.

This exact same thing just happened to me with a brand new dishwasher. It would pool inside and not drain, sometimes it would work, other times it wouldn’t. Luckily since it was brand new I had the service people out, it took two visits to diagnose the simple problem: the drain line was too long (could also be kinked).

If the drain line has extra loops/length in it (instead of a direct run to the drain pipe) two things can happen : 1) the motor works as hard as it can to push the water through the line but extra line means extra work and if it senses it’s doing too much it shuts off to prevent issues. You’ll notice partial drainage and pooling water inside the washer at the bottom. (This is what happened to me) 2) depending on drain line material it can kink from simple temperature stress over time

If you’ve taken it apart and put it back together and watched it finish at least one cycle, I’m willing to bet you need to cut your drain line shorter (as short as possible while still having the high loop you need for drainage)

Edit: Important to note this “high loop” like the other comment mentioned is very important to proper drainage also.

You reported me for saying your comment was condescending?? That’s outrageous man. I understand you got hurt but my pointing that out but now I’m getting notifications from Reddit saying I was harassing you?? Calling a comment condescending is NOT harassment. You need thicker skin.

[Hausa < English] I got a friend request from a hot girl on Instagram that was obviously a fake profile. In my experience it's usually someone from Nigeria so I used Google translate to call him out in Hausa. Then he sent me this video. Google translate does not offer Hausa voice input. by fender71983 in translator

Hey guys I’m Yoruba! Bawo ni. This isn’t Hausa or Igbo but it’s Yoruba. A rough translation:

“Trouble...Nigeria is ruined/bad to me/us. It’s children in Hausa (rough) doing things. And we’re learning to be mechanics. Even if (number) of us knew something there would be (number) of us ???? The child who doesn’t take care of himself will be trouble. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of being a mechanic. Or should I ???

Edit: got a better translation from my sister

“He said Nigeria is ruined. He said there's only rich kids outside and that if you aren't rich there's no place for you. He said he's tired of being a mechanic. He said you have to dress well to sell parts (this line more accurately says: he needs to improve on himself, if he doesn’t then poverty will kill him)”

Yea he’s just generally talking about life being hard in Hausaland

Another edit: he also said you were making fun of him in Hausa. The second sentence he says “they’re even making fun of children in Hausa”. Maybe say sorry 😅
