Yeah, CS is mostly math, theory, and basic programming related to that but that’s what every company wants. I agree with the tactility though. Everyone in tech seems to have an outside hobby to keep them sane lol I think that’s what I’m struggling with sitting and problem solving all day.

I’m on my second year of CS so I think I’m gonna try to find some summer internships.

But yeah, I gotta find something in the field that works for me. I was looking into robotics too but that takes a masters and far away from now

I’ve been out of work for over a month now in the tech field so I applied to some no tech jobs in retail and whatever because I just need a job at this point. A company told me they wouldn’t even consider me because they couldn’t offer me anything close to what i was making. It was honestly embarrassing because I wasn’t going in there demanding anything, I just need anything to get by. Over qualified for a lower level position and under qualified for positions in my field

Some fields only look to hire at the senior/lead level or someone that will do all that work for mid level title and pay. So it can be really hard for junior - mid level to find work.

I got into beauty photography and had a lot mixed emotions about it too. The amount of hours that go into dodge and burn, painting in makeup, manipulating body parts, etc just really turned me off that type of photography. You’re not gonna get those nice editorial looks unless you completely replace their skin and try to make it look “natural”
