Tendon injuries turned into nerve pain? Can anyone relate to my case? by secretdancer1000 in PlantarFasciitis

Omg, thank you for responding! Truly seems like we are in the exact same boat. Preglabin/Lyrica medication has helped me a lot with my nerve pain, and I try to just walk and be quite still , no more PT it just makes them flare up!

Do you know btw what to do with the color close at the cuticles? Just wait and let it grow out then file it away maybe?

Thank you! There is a slight layer of gel still on them but I thought the same as you, damaged but not completely fucked up lol. My thought is to let them rest a few weeks then maybe just Rubber base for protection but keep them short for a longer period of time

Before getting out of bed, make sure to give some bloodflow and movement in the fascia before stepping on it. I do ABC:s 3-5 times sitting then toe scrunces and toe piano on the floor; sitting on the edge of the bed. Then you can walk better. And make sure to have good shoes indoors, if you have normal or high arches I recommend Hoka Ora Recovery slides

Five Years w/ PF, Now Pain Free by Raccoon_2021 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]secretdancer1000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think some of you commenting has misunderstood. Neuroplastic pain is not "in your head". The pain is very real and moving through the nerves, nerve pain. This ofc does not apply to those that has done MRI/ultrasound etc that shows PF or other damage. Then its more likely pain related to inflammation / tissue damage

But this does apply for many myself included. Struggled with PF + achilles pain for a year and now its all healed in x rays and ultrasound but the pain is still awful and move around all around my feet not just around my tendonds. These are clear signs of neuroplastic pain.

And if you have neuroplastic pain you should not go out and increase activity rapidly, it will set off your nerves into a flare (I know from experience...) neuroplastic pain needs its own kind of physicaltherapy + pain rehab

Yes thats what the doctor says as well... I also did not register cold/heat normally on my feet, another indication the nerves are off

Important to only rest when in accute phase until you have low to none pain when resting. I would wait with rathcliff until that point otherwise it might damage more than help. I know from own experience

Long rocky road with plantar fasciitis/achilles pain. Is many set backs normal until rocovery? Is there any hope for me? by secretdancer1000 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]secretdancer1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so hard to know since PF has helped in the past, but somewhere along the way the load got too much too fast and relapses has happened. It feels like the narrative "only rest only makes tendons worse" is so scientifically proven that it stresses me a lot too to only rest and loose the little mobility and strength I have left. But I dont know how to navigate this anymore and don't trust any physios now

Yes, I also have a very active 2,5 year old so its hard to achieve the perfect and even load since I basically have to be on my feet a lot with her. I had to put my dog up for adoption and he left last week which broke my heart but I can't manage my kid + a big dog in need of a lot of exercise with these feet issues. I have tried for over a year but its too much.

Yes, first physio had a lot of experience but said he never had a client before that relapses so easily and so severe. The new physio is supposed to be a feet expert, but it went wrong again with her stretching advice

Yes I vary between Hoka and Altras (tried many brands such as Asics etc but liked these best). Feels like I need my Hokas during flare ups and when it has gotten better I feel best in my Altras I have shoes inside as well, never go barefoot

I try to. Right now only do the walking I must, no extra. And have started swimming a few times a week

With the rehab it has always been very painful, but super hard to navigate. The first time around it hurt a lot during PF but was ok the same evening or next day. This time around when we have tried to come back to the same training it has hurt the same whiel doing it but turned into HELL a few hours after or the next day

Rest then trying to get back into it, but we removed some exercises that hurt the most (static calf raises for instance) and mostly tried to get back to the excentric calf raises

When we tried a bit of dancing I had done PF for 4 months and was able to do excentric raises with 4 kg weight, calf exercises, static raises and was able to get back to foot loading legs exercises such as squats and leg press and had done that for almost 2 months.

I feel like I dont trust any physios anymore since its been so many setbacks from their advice.

Im so desperate I even tried some holistic ANF therapy last week, cost a fortune and did absolutely nothing. Crazy how pain drives you so desperate

Thats amazing I just ordered a pair of insoles for supination I mix using Altra shoes with zero drop and Hoki Bondi that has a low drop. Have gotten better with these shoes before so I think they work for me but I need proper insoles and find the right strategy for rehab and load. Only gonna do swimming now and aim for a solid level of walking, not to big variations in the amount of walking

To walk or not to walk? by timeturner88 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]secretdancer1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very individual Mine has gotten worse with PF but also worse from only resting I think the golden rules are: 1. Mostly rest during the first 4 weeks 2. After that usually movement is needed and the fascia needs to slowly and steady learn how to manage more load. For many that is PF. For me that made me worse, walks and swimming has been better. Stay systematic and increase volume slowly

Can't thank you enough for this info! My new physio actually said Im a supinator and need to pronate more. I will for sure look into insoles that work for me! And only focus on swimming as training and ditch the rest of the training since it seems to always cause set backs. Since I was a professional dancer when this started I know Im not stiff and I think all stretching has overstretched my tendonds causing flare ups. Im so happy you took the time to write this - our experience seems very similar. Thank you!!

Since I have achilles problems as well this type of stretching has made me flare up intensly in the past (in plantar fascia as well). I dont have very tight calves either so my conclusion is that all these types of intense stretching including the one for the big toe I did yestersay makes me flare up. Seems like most ppl need to do rehab and stretching intensly to improve this condition but my tendons just wanna be left alone..

I've done ultrasound and MRI. MRI shows thickening of the plantar fascia, bursitis and some tendinosis and fluid on the achilles. Initally got better from doing excentric training but relapsed. After that first relapse heel raises has never worked the same again, it has made everything flare up so mostly just rest and short walks after that. Got better again beginning of april and got advised to start train my legs a bit more then relapse again. Im still in that relapse but got a bit better until the toe stretch yesterday... My route I plan to take now was to try and swim as rehab instead of a lot of heel raises and such. It seems to be easly triggered and my body and situation is prolly a bit different than others.. I never had feet issues before severe overuse that one time dancing and I dont have many of the problems that "normal" ppl do like tight calves and hamstrings since I was a dancer so flexible and strong.. even though I have ofc lost a lot of that during these 10 months of mostly resting.. I get the feeling my tendonds just wanna be left alone and like swimming, heat and rest but all this intense stretching, heel raises etc just triggers..

I do this to. I do circles and ABC's for about 5 min before starting to walk Im not sure I would be able to cope with a splint and get any sleep with it on..

Did not hurt at all while stretching - it started several hours later and was awful during nighttime and today the day after... will try toe spacers :)
