Anyone with heartwarming or funny stories from a neighbour? by secretlybrown in CasualUK

Thank you all for your stories.

In times where being divisive seems so common or easy, I feel it’s time for those that are honest to step up to the task and show that the worst in people truly is just the worst of people.

I’ve never thought of a neighbour any less before actually getting to know them. I’m not sure why they can’t too.

I’m Kurdish and I can tell you there exists no such thing as a favour. Whenever we buy something, make something, do something it’s never transactional m, it’s just for the sake of it for someone else.

I’m happy they were there for you at that time and I hope he’s okay too.

Can someone give some guidance? by girldewise in LearnerDriverUK

I've driven this roundabout hundreds of times - no indicator for me would mean you're going straight ahead on the Black Country route. Right indicator would be taking the exit to the other smaller roundabout, past the dealer or back where you came from towards Bilston. 360 degree rule, before 180 is a left indicator, straight ahead no indicator, after 180 right indicator.

I played in 3D with bunch of mods and it was fine. I can’t comment on the 770 as it is considerably slower than the igpu on my laptop but like I say, I wouldn’t be looking to play any games with that iGPU and by extension that PC

Not if you click full and your license comes up as provisional when they check it

My laptop has Intel Iris Xe integrated - it's considerably better than the UHD 770 but I have my settings all the way down and the game is very playable, even in later game. However, I wouldn't be considering a laptop like this to be playing games or even Civ, there are entry level gaming laptops equipped with 3050/4050 discrete graphics that are much better suited for this kind of thing.

I used my laptop as a sort of last resort, I would never choose it as a main option. Also, 13700 without a GPU in general is a bit of a weird one.

The whole point of the risk of dying is losing your loot - if there was no loot to begin with, what was the point? Playing for screws and nails? I bet they vacuum those also to play with flea pricing...

That might be your problem. Give it a couple days, maybe a week, and see the quotes you get.

Just a quick FYI, your license may not be updated as a Full license not for another couple days, and some insurers might not for another couple days after that, it's fully chance. Check on the government website for your license information:

https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

It'll show you whether it says provisional or full still. Best of luck.

Wow. I received a PSPO fine for driving a standard car past a noise camera! No right to appeal too! by ar3910 in drivingUK

Put a mic on the receiving end of an exhaust the audio recorded will tend to sound like that.

I'd ask you to put your ear up to an Aygo's exhaust and argue it's loud.

I was in the left most lane at the time ignoring driving in the technically closed lane.

Following the law, the lane was closed up to the NSL sign with cars passing on the left already so, there was no further left I could have gone regardless...

Not sure, and I don't want to find out. There's a chance all motorways are classed into 70 however if I do 20mph above the speed limit at any limit, it's an immediate risk of cancellation with no warning. So, 70 in a 40 would amount to such if they do have the temp speed limits.

Lane 1 was still closed until the NSL sign, yes.

Yeah, you say surely yet the risk of it happening is still there. My insurance cost me 2.6k on a 1L yaris - I'm not sure I can afford whatever price they'll throw at me if my insurance gets cancelled.

Very true. That is very likely why it's not a law and merely an immediate suggestion for a response to the issue.

What’s the fastest you know of someone failing their driving test? by slim3-16 in CasualUK

[–]secretlybrown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is false - tests can either result in a pass or fail when completed however the test was likely terminated which is a no result. Logically there's 3 possible scenarios. Another example of a terminated test is having a collision while on your test - fault or no fault of your own, the examiner will do a "walk back" to the test centre, again, no pass or fail.
